I hung hanged for the first time today.

I can’t recommend sets over 20 mins. I have couple times done about 25 min sets accidentally. Once I did 27min set because I didn’t hear the timer going on, my unit had reduced sensitivity for two days. First I didn’t even notice it.. I don’t think it’s worth it.

It’s not worth it for reduced sensitivity your right about that. It’s nice to have a timer. Sometimes I would forget when I started so maybe I was doing shorter sets but I know I went over 30+ min a few times because I lost track of things but I was hanging 5lbs or less. I noticed if I wrap a little loose blood seems to flow better. I couldn’t imagine loosing track of time with 10lbs + on. Sometimes with 7.5 I loose track of time then the last minute I realize I have weight hanging and I feel so fatigued I can’t wait till that minute ends.

I haven’t noticed any loss if sensitivity when going overtime, but I will stick to 25 minutes or less.

I’m going to increase my standing weight this morning to 12 1/2 pounds for my 10 minute pre-hang.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I lasted about 6 minutes, then reduced the weight back to 10 pounds for a few more.

The 7 1/2 seated felt like nothing after that!

I have been doing 7.5 for just about every set now but I feel it big time but its a good feeling

Just finished 12 1/2 pounds for 10 minutes standing followed by 7 1/2 pounds seated for 20 minutes and It felt great all the way through, with a constant hot tugging on the ligaments.

I think I need to up the intensity occasionally to generate that all-day soreness and possibly back off slightly after a week of the higher intensity.

I read some old threads where guys are hanging 30 pounds for hours at a time per day and imagine that there is no way back from that in terms of adapted strength in the ligaments.

I do some intense training with kettle bells, mace bells, dead lifts and power cleans which are designed to make tendons and ligaments progressively stronger without gaining muscle mass so that I can be fit and strong for athletics, and I believe there is an extremely high upper limit to tendon strength in all of the joints of the body, so why would the Unit be any different.

I’m not doing all this work just to be able to perform freak show stunts.

I agree with you I just started doing 30min sets it’s easier to count and my hours build easier I am trying to get in a minimum of 60-hrs a month. I like that hot tugging feels good and today first set I felt it right away but its bearable enough to loose track of the feeling while I am doing something else. Wow 30lbs that’s a lot. I am going to be traveling for the first 2-weeks in Nov I have to figure out what I am going to do. That’s the only thing about hanging you really need private time.

30 minute sets Dogbone? Wow. Always read that anything over 20 minutes and tissue death sets in.


Serious starting point: Nov. 2, 2009/BPEL 5.75 x 4.75 inches.

Current BPEL 7 1/2 x 5.5 inches.

Goal: BPEL 8 x 6 inches.

I believe that 20 minutes is a safety measure, since tissue death sets in AFTER 20 minutes of poor/no circulation?

I`ve hung 30 minutes sets, but that was at moderate weights and at times where I successfully attached the hanger very nicely and noticed that I had good circulation and comfort at the 20 minute mark.

Not sure if it`s worth the risk though. :)

I manage to get great attachment with the system I use to hang and it is easy to lose track of time while posting here, or watching YouTube or reading.

Thankfully the way I wrap allows really good circulation and at lower weights the head barely darkens.

I’m standing with 12 1/2 pounds right now and its on perfectly, and I’d it wasn’t for the simple fact that my calves cramp up standing like this I could easily go for 30 minutes.

I did 30min yesterday I didn’t have any problem I think its a combination of the weight and the way you wrap I really examined it and I was not cold or purple. I am just testing it right now but I was thinking maybe 12/20min sets throughout the day might be better. Right now I am looking for some type of ADS I read that when your not hanging you are healing and you want to be healing in a nice stretched position so ADS.
