Do's and Don'ts - the theories behind pumping

Hello my fellow pumpers!

First of all, I would like to apologize for being away for the best part of the last 6 months. I’ve been reading most of the threads on the pumper’s forum, and I’ve been trying to understand a few concepts and learn more and more about this method of penis enlargement.

I made a few mistakes when I was pumping

Being away from pumping for some months now, allowed me think a lot about what I was doing wrong. Most of you will feel like kicking my head in right now, and tell me “I told you so!”, but I will have to write this down so it may be of some help to those who want to start enlarging their penises.

As soon as I got my first results, I was so excited about the possibility of making my dream of having an average dick come true, that I lost my mind and increased the time in the tube, the pressure, etc. In my last days of pumping, I was spending almost 2 hours a day doing my routine. And guess what, I was getting no results at all, and my EQ was at its worse. I had to stop, take a decon break, try something else and keep thinking about what I was doing wrong.
I’ve always been writing down everything I do since my first day on PE. Measurements included. I can tell you, with 100% sure, that pumping gave me 0.6” BPEL, and 0.3” EG.

I decided to take a look at the periods when I’ve gained the most.

According to my PE stats:

I started pumping when I was 5.7” x 4.5”, at the beginning of June.
At the end of July I was 5.9” x 4.7”.

Results: In two months I’ve gained 0.2” x 0.2”
Routine: Exactly as reported on the vacuum pumping 101 thread, as suggested by Avocet8

From the first day of August until the 20th of November, I’ve managed to reach 6.3” x 4.8”. From that moment on, I upped my time on the tube and haven’t gained a single millimeter more from pumping.

Results: In four months I’ve gained 0.3” x 0.1!
Routine: 40 minutes inside the tube (4x10m or 2x20m or 2x15m+1x10m) jelqs: 300/400

Conclusions: I upped my time on the tube too much and too fast. I probably wasn’t conditioned enough to pump for that long, and jelq that amount of repetitions.
It’s really a miracle I’ve managed to gain something out of a routine that was way too much for me.

Now, let’s change the subject a bit. I would like to talk to you all about some of the concepts that go along with pumping. Let’s start it.

1 | A good warm up

A good warm up is really very important. I’ve found that, when my penis isn’t warm enough, its pliability drops and I’m not able to get much expansion while in the tube.

2 | Choose your method: Pumping vs Condom Pumping

I’ve tried the condom pumping for a couple of times but I really haven’t noticed any difference in my gains ratio. Some of the vets defend that the condom pumping is better for those who want to increase their flaccid size.

Vacuum Pumping 101

Condom pumping

3 | Apply heat during the sets

I’ve only tried this for a couple of weeks, but I think it’s very important. When the heat is applied, the penis expands more easily and way much faster. That can only be good, right?

4 | Start with very low pressure

Even though it’s tempting to let the pressure go as high as 10hg and see the monster penis you’ve always have dreamed of right in front of your eyes, it’s really not something you should do. Some vets say that the best pressure to use is something between 2hg-4hg.

5 | Do some manual exercises

Now that’s a tricky one. Which exercises should someone do to get the most out of pumping? Manual stretches? Jelqing? Ulis? Horses? When should we do those exercises? Before the first set? Between sets? At the end of the sets?

My opinion: maybe… and that’s just my opinion, it would be better for me to jelq ONLY at the end of the pumping routine. This way, I would take some time between the sets to massage my penis and allow some fresh blood to get in and oxygenate the cells and tissues. At the end of the pumping routine, the penis has been under a constant light stretch, which means that the tunica won’t offer too much resistance when you try to do some manual stretches.

At the same time, the CC’s and CS are somewhat bigger than they usually are, as a result of the expansion they’ve been submitted to, so they can probably take a higher amount of blood in. That’s probably the right time to jelq.

6 | Pick the right time for you

I think that it is way better to do 2 sets of 10 minutes instead of 1 set of 20 minutes. Too much time in the tube will not allow enough fresh blood to get inside the penis. In my opinion, the amount of new blood that enters the penis when we are pumping is not enough for the cells to survive under those circumstances for long. Anything under 15 minutes may be ok.

7 | Warm down or Cool down

I really don’t know what a cool down feels like, or what they results are, because I have never tried it, but I’ve always done a warm down at the end of my routines, with a lot of massaging and hot wraps, and it always felt very nice and good. My penis would look much healthier after a warm down, and I was probably preventing some discoloration.

8 | Velcro wrap or ADS?

I haven’t tried any of those after a pumping routine, but I’m pretty sure they are very important if someone wants to heal in an extended state. It should result in a bigger flaccid, and it would probably be of big help on cementing the gains from pumping. I will have to try this in the future.

I would like to hear your opinions on what I just wrote. I would also like to make clear that those are just my ideas, the result of some months of experience on pumping, and that it doesn’t mean, in any way, that they are correct! They are just theories from a guy who have made mistakes (a lot), and is trying to learn more and more each day.

I think this forum needs, and deserves a lot more feedback. A lot of people is still skeptical about pumping, and, all of us, those who are sure this actually works, should try to reunite and keep evolving our concepts, our theories. Mainly the vets, of course. I’m just a newbie! :D

I will probably be pumping again in the future, but this time I want to make it right and to be more responsible.

Big Big Hug!!!

G

P.S.: there’s a lot more I would like to discuss with you all, so let’s just start! ;)

Hey, pardon my newbiness, but when you say you have gone from 5.1 x 4.5 to 6.5 x 4.8 within a year, is that permanent gains or the potential your penis can reach in a penis pump?

In other words, are these numbers (6.5x4.8) stats you can achieve with a regular erection now without the assistance of a penis pump, OR these are the numbers that your penis can achieve if you were to pump right this second?

S.O. at P.B.

D2G those would be very specific guesses!

Currently 6.5 NBP 5.5EG.

It’s permanent. I’ve been through 3 or 4 long decon breaks and it stayed exactly the same. I don’t pump for months now, but if I were to pump right now, I believe that I could get an even bigger post-pump expansion if I wanted to. So, my stats are related to my regular erection.

Wow that’s great, I always thought pumping was something you get higher girth gains out of rather than higher length gains - is this a myth or are your gains a result of a particular technique?

Your Signature says 2007 and 2008, would you mind telling me which months you are starting and ending with?

And one other question, I would like to be at the very LEAST 6.0 BPEL in at least 1 year, and my current BPEL is 5.0”. Since it seems you have made 1.4” gain in what I’m presuming is a year or less, I feel that I could achieve at least 1” in a year. So once I get beyond my newbie routine, how would you recommend me go about pumping?

S.O. at P.B.

I think that’s some really good advice, G. I’ve recently gotten back into pumping and I’ve been following breaks every 8-10 minutes. Right now, I’m only at around 3 sets and I haven’t been jelqing, as I feel that is even more stress that I haven’t built up to yet. I’m interested in working up to an hour in the tube over the next few months. Jelqing while I’m pumping, even at low pressure really seems to get lymph fluid going for me. I’m trying to avoid lymph as much as possible, although I don’t feel it hinders gains at all.

When I pump, I’m looking to get a good stretched feeling and if the HG is too high, I may look bigger, but it isn’t helping the tissues, it’s too much stress. Right now, I haven’t been going over 5HG, although 4 is usually where I like to stay. I might go up to 7 at the end of the session just to reach some new dimensions, but if things are taken slowly enough, you’ll eventually reach the same size with a lower pressure in the same session.

I think keeping stretched after a set, doing an ADS or something similar is a good move. I’m going to work on that next, along with maybe trying a heating pad, although I expand pretty well without one.

Also, I’m always pumping every other day. I can’t remember if that’s what Avocet was for in his 101 manual, but I feel that a day in between is also good for rest.

Finally, I don’t masturbate too often. I’m not saying that masturbation affects gains, but it is stress to the tissues. I don’t think people realize that masturbation is like exercise. As with everything else in the body, its “use it or lose it”. All that masturbating can add in more exercise. I know that if I have lots of sex or masturbate a lot, I end up having a smaller, weaker erection.

While you’re working on the Newbie Routine, read Vacuum Pumping 101 .

For Lampwick, becoming hung like a donkey was the result of a total commitment.

G_want7, this is an excellent post and similar to some things I discovered during the wonderful few months I was pumping.

I especially wanted to address time in the tube and manual exercise.

Like you, I got a lot more out of two 10 minute sets than I got from a single 20 minute set.

Additionally I got more out of three 10 minute sets than I got from two 12 minute sets.

So you really have to find that “sweet spot”. (all of my pumping was between 2.5 and 3.5HG)

As far as manual exercises, I was doing about 120 jelqs along with my pump sets.

But then I tried doing just a few jelqs between sets, just 10 or so to basically move blood around.

The next day I had the most fantastic flaccid and great erections. It led me to think that at least for me, jelqing + pumping together was overtraining. So I decided to try alternating jelq focused workouts with pump focused workouts. I have temporarily stopped pumping for privacy reasons, so I don’t have anything to report on that strategy.

As to ADS, I believe gprent said in a thread somewhere that he felt it would cause too much stress if combined with pumping. He felt that it would not allow the tissues to fully recover from the pump session. Either do one or the other, but not both. That makes a heck of a lot of sense to me.

Anyway, again a great post.

I haven’t got all my gains from pumping. My first gains were the result of a newbie routine. Then I started to pump at June at 5.5” x 4.5” and managed to jump to 6.3” x 4.8” until the end of the year. After that, I’ve reached a plateau, took some decon breaks and grew 0.2” more from a jelq-only routine.

I would recommend you to read all you can about pumping. I thought I did, when I started, but boy, I was so wrong!

Good luck, my friend!

Thank you gmarceau!

If there’s one thing that I learned since my very first day on PE, is that everyone’s different! We must find out what works for us! When I first started, and because vets like Avocet, Lampwick, Gprent, Peforeal, and others, were helping me a lot, teaching me a lot of things, telling me about their routines, etc, I thought that I would get some gains only by copying what they have done in the past! And I’ve learned that we just can not do exactly the same someone else is doing and expect the same results. That’s impossible! That’s why I’ve overtrained a lot of times!

I agree with the masturbation thing.

It happened exactly the same to me. The thing is, I was so obsessed on doing a lot of jelqs between sets (at least 100 jelqs between sets) that I ended up overtraining a lot of times.

As to ADS, gprent is probably right. I have never tried it combined with pumping. Also, I’m much more curious about peforeal’s velcro wrap, at the moment.

Nice thread. I am taking a conservative approach to pumping. I pump in 5 minute mini sessions, usually about 4, never exceeding 4HG. To lube up, I use the EVO oil as posted on thunders - I find this really gets the blood flowing to the penis, and I get slightly better expansion. Finally, when it arrives I plan to use a heating pad on the pump to keep things nice and toasty.

Where did you buy your heating pad? Was it on the internet? Can you provide us a link? I can’t seem to find a heating pad in my country… :(

For some guys, masturbation does seem to be way too stressful if it is stacked on top of PE.

But for me, I find that edging and ballooning seem to help cement gains. I feel like it promotes healing. Rather than stressing the tissues, it seems to help my tissues. I base this partly on the function of nocturnal erections, which avocet8 describes so well in his Pumping and ED thread:

Vacuum Pumping when you have ED; the short version, according to Avocet8

One of the reasons that your sexual response was good for so long is that you had a healthy pattern of nocturnal erections, whether you were aware of them occurring or not. Normal men without ED have 4 - 6 erections a night during the REM stage of sleep, each lasting about a half hour. That accumulates to 2 - 3 hrs a night of hard-ons. That’s a lot of erection time. The purpose of having nocturnal erections is purely a “housekeeping” function. Blood pours in, cleans out the gunk and accumulated flotsam in your arteries and veins that occurs while you are flaccid. This newly-oxygenated blood also feeds penile tissue. When nocturnal erections stop, so does the “housekeeping” and the intense oxygenation you used to get during the night.

A similar effect occurs in sexual and random situations. When you were younger you popped random boners at various times during the day, even sometimes when you didn’t want one. Now, not only are you not getting the nocturnal workout you used to, but you’re not getting the random ones anymore, and you’re probably not having sex as often as you did before, if you are having sex at all. It makes sense that your reproductive stuff is not real healthy. Your penis isn’t getting any exercise.

So you can see why I think that edging is healthy for the penile tissues.

However I learned two things about myself:

— going longer than 30 minutes is counter productive for me. 45 minutes did indeed require recovery (wow, I just noticed that avocet8 says each nocturnal erection lasts around 30 minutes - interesting)

— if I don’t ejaculate at the end, recovery does not seem to be an issue at all. (However it is important for health to ejaculate several times a week)

I had to experiment and find the “sweet spot.”

Some guys can tolerate and thrive from edging, other guys get way too overstressed by it. It is like you say — you can’t copy someone else’s routine; you have to adapt things and see what works best for you.

(As an aside, one of the great things I have learned from the above is that I don’t need to ejaculate to have a good time. That was a real revelation!)
