Who's Gained With Less Than 5 lbs?

Just curious, has anyone successfully gained only hanging with, say 2 1/2 lbs? Is it possible, or is this really just going to stretch some skin and prep you for heavier weight?

I won’t speak for anyone else, but I started hanging about a month ago, and with hanging and manual stretching I have no doubt broke my two-week plateau of no gains. 2 1/2 pounds does not sound like enough weight to get gains for most people. It is good to start for a day or two with 2 1/2 pounds to get used to wrapping, positioning the hanger, tightening your hanger and hanging. Once you get the process down (even though you will always be learning), then I would step up in a few days to about 4 pounds. I used 64 fluid ounces. Then I stepped up to 1 Gallon of a milk about half filled, a few days later stepped up to 3/4 filled, then the full gallon filled in the milk container. Now I am hanging a 10-pound dumb-bell weight for gains in SD and BTC positions for 20 mintue sets, I try to get in as many consecutive sets as I can until I reach fatigue/soreness. But umm, I kind of started ranting there, but I thought it was important if you are starting to get someone elses perspective on what I just did up to now. I think the 2 1/2 pound weight will prep you physically your penis for heavier weights but not by much. One thing I learned from hanging that is very important is remember to drop the weight once it is attached to the hanger very slowly and let your penis slowly adapt to the weight pulling down on your dick as you drop it and release your hands. If you have never hanged you will see what I mean. Hanging is something that requires balls, sometimes you need to be a little more impulsive and when you are confident and trust yourself try slowly hanging a heavier weight when the time is right. Me, personally I am going for speed gains, as quick as I can get them without hurting myself. I hope this helps you, have fun…

Remember the idea is to get to a fatiqued state. The amount of weight it takes to get you there will be different for almost everyone. I didn’t start feeling this till I got to 7.5 lbs but I have heard of guys getting there at 5 lbs. I don’t think anything less than 5 lbs will get you there.

I know what you mean about “Hanging is something that requires balls”. I made a Captain’s Wench a few weeks ago, and tried hanging, but the clamp really freaks me out. It’s really hard to tighten and then when I do it’s a real “restrictive & tight feeling”. I followed the instructions, tightening the clamp another peg, and then another, but it practically blisters my fingers tightening it, the wench itself gets a little bundled up/creased, and it really feels too tight and then when I hang the 2 1/2 lbs it sort of hurts a little and I get a weird feeling in the glands. A feeling that I can’t distinguish - like a hot and cold.

I’ve readjusted again and again, but with little improvement my confidence level starts to drop and I put it away for another day. The Wench seems a lot less intimidating than the other hangers because of its softness. It’s the damned clamp that’s freaking me out the most I think.

It takes time to get the “hang” of hanging. Read all you can about it. Here are some quick pointers I find useful:

1) Use wrap. I prefer Theraband. Wrap will protect your skin from the kinks that form in the velcro when you tighen down the Wench. I’ve found that the Wench does “break in” with time and your skin adapts as well.

2) Start the wrap just below your circ scar and spiral toward the base. Many people recommend 15” or wrap. I use 8” and it works just fine. Wrap should be quasi-tight—loose enough to pee through but tight enough to form a slight indentation. The tigher your wrap, the more your glans will swell and the easier it will be for the hanger to hold on. However, the glans will be subjected to a great deal of pressure if it’s swollen, which could lead to injury. This is a balancing act. Err on the side of caution, at least at first, and keep the wrap loose enough to keep the pressure down in your glans. Make sure the wrap doesn’t have any folds or kinks that could irritate your skin when the hanger is tightened.

3) Apply the hanger 1/8” below the leading edge of the wrap. Your wrap should extend slightly beyond the edge of the hanger to protect your skin (esp. your glans) from the hanger.

4) Never, ever let the wrap hit your glans. When you apply the weight, your skin will bunch up in front of the hanger and up against your glans. If the wrap is hitting your glans, remove the hanger and re-wrap, starting the wrap closer to the base.

5) Don’t be afraid to tighten the hanger. I like it good and tight, and usually tighten it a little bit more once the weight is applied. It is very uncomfortable and maybe even dangerous to allow the hanger to slide over the glans. You can easily prevent this by attaching the hanger as described in (3) and tightening it down hard. This will be much easier to do with the Turn-Key clamps than with the Cable Clamps,

6) Finally, carefully monitor your penis during your sets. If your glans becomes cold or numb, cut the set short. If you feel any pain whatsoever, cut the set short.

I just reached hanging 5 lbs. I stared with 1 lb and worked my way up to five. Hanging with very low weights over a 90 day period resulted in a gain of 1/8.

While 1/8 may not seem like a lot, it is a gain non the less and was done in such a way that I suffered no injury and conditioned myself to be able to stand heavier weight and still have quite a way to go before maxing out.

All good advice ModestoMan. However, I wanted to chime in with my own experience on the potential dangers of tightening the hanger too much. On two occasions, I experienced nerve damage from my Bib starter. I’m quite certain that this was because I was tightening the hanger excessively. I was doing this to keep the hanger from riding down on the glans, as you point out. Subsequently, I’ve changed the setting of the hanger (toe-out, I believe), but I now also follow the advice of others here and tighten it only as much as is necessary. I have had no problems since doing this. Consequently, I would caution against excessive tightening.

Sorry to hear about your problems with nerve damage. I agree that there is such a thing as too tight, and I never tighten the hanger more than I think is required. The key is to find the right setting for your penis and the weight you’re hanging. Higher weights require tighter settings.

I’m very careful to continuously monitor hanger tightness during my sets. If I feel the hanger starting to slide toward my glans, I’ll crank down the screw a half turn or more. Likewise, if I feel it’s unnecessarily tight, maybe because I’ve dropped the weight during a set, I don’t hesitate to back off the tightness. Vigilence is the key.

I concur with the excellent advice given by modestoman and motivated. My big problem in hanging has been my long foreskin. The bib hanger and the capt’ Wench just don’t work, no matter how I wrap. But I have found something that works really well for me, though it has many detractors. That is the Grip System (www.thegrip.com). Don’t let them snow you with all of the bells and whistles—all you need is the basic grip chamber. Contrary to the criticisms of those who have not used it, the main pull in behind the head and not on the glans. I am now at 637 hours of hanging with the Grip so I have lots of experience with it. And I almost forgot to add an important point. The Grip only works for low wts—like 8 or 10 lbs.

I did hang with a sock for a year ago, gained half an inch with a max weight of 2kgs which is ~ 4 pounds. I would say start off as low as possible, add sessions until you don’t have enough time and only add weight whenever gains halts. However there are surely many ways towards the end point.

Bike2swim how much have you gained from the Grip System? Are you uncircumcised?

I made an ADS/extender. When I use it its like hanging 1-2lbs from my dick. After 400 hours and some manual stretching I gained 0,2 inch.
