Questions about Hanging

I’m going to start hanging very soon, hopefully June 14 if everything does to plan. I have several questions right now and maybe some more as I go along. I read a lot of Monty’s posts and I am trying to use his principles and ideas. I have Monty’s PE golf weights so I was thinking I would just add a roughly 7oz golf weight for small weight increases. I am using a Captain’s Wench to hang.

I’m planning on starting with 2 pounds for 1 set for the first week then add a 2nd set the following week. Then maybe add a 3rd set for the 3rd week. Then move up roughly 2lb 7oz and see if I still feel fatigue with 3 sets. I am planning to hang SO. How does that plan sound?

I lift weights so I’m assuming fatigue in hanging is little like what it feels like if you exercise a muscle often or do a lot of calf raises.

I figure its best to list the questions so they will be easier to answer. I want to start hanging with as much info as I can so I hang properly and help other people out here eventually. Thanks in advance for your responses.

1. Is it necessary to stretch skin when initially starting to hang?

2. If I’m doing two sets does that mean I just warm up the first 10 minutes of the first set? Also if I was doing 6 sets would I warm up the first ten minutes of the first three sets?

3. Is jelqing necessary between hanging sets? Could I just slap or massage the penis to regain circulation? It seems like it would be a pain to have to use Vaseline then put power bank on and wrap several times.

4. I’m going to hang everyday, so would jelqing everyday (About 50 wet jelqs post hanging) be too much or good enough to keep the penis healthy?

5. Is hanging in the AM and PM best or is hanging once per day enough (assuming you also use an ADS). Could AM/PM be used to break plateaus?

6. I’ve heard some people watch porn to keep blood flow to the penis when hanging. Could that cause an erection easily? Is it best to quickly take the hanger off or use something like an ice pack to stop the erection?

7. Do most people consider 40 minutes hanging and 20 minutes between sets to be 1 hour of hanging or just 40 minutes of hanging? So would 6 sets of 20 minutes with 10 minute breaks be 3 hours hanging?

8. Do people usually stretch in conjunction with hanging or is hanging sufficient enough to cause potential gains just by itself?

9. Should I have to drop weight every hanging session because of the fatigue? Say I use 8 pounds would I usually end up with maybe 6 pounds to finish up a session? Also if I use 8 pounds for the 4th day in a row and can’t hang with it for 20 minutes should I immediately drop the weight for the next set in order to reach 20 minutes?

If you are cut, skin will stretch with most of clamp-style hangers. I’ve never used a Cap’ Wench tough, so not sure about.

It’s not a bad idea, but I don’t think it is what most of hangers do. Hanging is not weigthlifting; the concept is that doing many sets with the same weigth will progressively lengthen your penis and at the end you’ll have some micro-tears in your penis.

Between sets you should just regain circulation. Jelqing can be done after some hours, to help EQ, since a lot of length work tend to lower EQ. 50 jelqs daily aren’t too much for most of people, but we all are different.

Given that you want to use low weights, two sessions will work better IMHO.

I don’t think you should watch porn while hanging. Your penis is clamped anyway, so where blood would be supposed to go?

Hanging time is meant without rest. In your example, it would be 40 minutes.

You shoud use a weight you can use for all your sets. If the 4th day you can’t use the same weight drop the weigth. Time should always be more important than weigth.

Yea it was a lot of questions, but I couldn’t find any real concrete answers to them through reading. Nobody has to answer them all, but thank you for doing that.

So say I do 4 sets and I feel like a could do a 5th set should I? Then maybe the next day I go back to 4 sets becuase of fatigue. Should I try stick to 4 sets for a week at least before moving to a 5th set?

I guess I need to break the questions up over a few threads becuase this might be too much. A more in depth “master” hanging thread might be needed becuase it seems some questions lack detail or clarity.

Skin stretching should not be allowed. Your going to get some skin stretch over the long run but when you feel the skin stretching you need to readjust things. Loosen the clamp and urge the skin from under the clamp towards the pelvis to release the tension.

One warm up is all that is necessary if your sets are roughly back to back.

I don’t take my hanger off between sets. All I do is loosen the clamp and allow color to come back. Once that’s done, maybe 5 to 10 minutes then I just clamp up an go for another set.

Doesn’t really matter. Jelqing encourages circulation and that is never a bad thing.

AM/PM, Both, your choice. If your hanging daily and using an ADS your not going to see any plateau’s

I don’t like to torture myself. Getting an erection would be distracting if not problematic.

Hang time only here. Limit yourself to 20 minute sets so you don’t starve your unit of oxygen to long. 10 minutes between sets.

Just use common sense here. If you feel your unit is fatigued then sure drop a lb or 2. I always used the same weight throughout.

Horse, I think I’m ready to hang, I just think there is conflicting info out there. Maybe its becuase I’m reading stuff since 02. I’ve read the major hanging threads and most threads in the hanging forum. I guess most of my questions can be answered through experience and watching out for PI’s.

Monty, thank you for your response. I have a couple more questions that can be answered by anybody.

Does anybody think heat keeps the ligaments more malleable or would it be more of a personal preference at the beginning half of sets?

What is the best wrap for hanging? I have heard most people use two HTW’s while other people use something like no hurt tape with Theraband. What have you guys had success and ease with.

From what i have read fatigue is not defined that good and some people aren’t sure if what they are feeling is fatigue. Would you guys classify fatigue has a dull pain that it makes it hard to finish a set while any sharp pain is bad?

Monty, do you think its fine to starting hanging SO or is SD needed at first?

I haven’t used a great deal of SD. Although it obviously works like any other angle, I dislike the see-saw affect of it that lead to the LOT theory. I prefer to pull in the direction of my erection.

When it comes to heat or not, I was never able to accurately assess the effectiveness one way or the other. I did do some data work while I was in the zone but it really didn’t seem to make much difference. To be on the safe side I would suggest heat at the beginning of your workouts at least. That just makes good sense.

I think from this point you probably have enough info to just dive in and find out what works for you.
