Here, consider this.
CaptnHook - Maximum weight sets

thanks for posting the links Alrdybig and Captnhook.

Seems I have much more reading to do before I start hanging :)

Sure thing Blue-
Even if you simply give your unit a series of warm up cranks - gentle ones - you will note an obvious difference in how you feel once you begin your hanging sets. Try it both ways - with and without a warm up stretch session and I think you’ll see what I mean.

Beyond encouraging fatigue a warm up stretch session also adds an element of safety to this process; akin to warming up before a run or weight lifting session.

The only thing I would warn is that you be careful not to apply too much stress. This I say because when you manually stretch using a hanging device you are expending a lot less energy than you would when using your hand - your grip in manual stretching requires a concentration of energy, and that energy is now freed up - as well, you are applying an unknown amount of force, unlike with weight which is a stress you can very accurately measure.

Um, BBS, you still there dude?

The only power a woman has over you is that which you give her.

Know I realise that time is more important than weight I decided to dust off my home made hanger (until the bib arrives) and try again at a much lower weight. Before when I was trying to use more weight the hanger was causing too much pain on my skin.

Today I manually stretched for 10 minutes and then started with 4.4 lbs attached to my hanger and at first it felt as if it was not pulling on my penis or ligs at all, but after a few minutes I could feel a slight pull, more on the inner penis than my ligs. I did 3 x 20 minute sessions.

My lots is between about 8 or 9. I was sitting on the sofa with a chair in front of me, I used a bar on the chair to run the rope over. So I was hanging somewhere between SO and SD, is this OK?

I think in running the rope over the bar of the chair it takes some of the weight but I could not hang straight down from the sofa as the rope would rub on the end of the sofa and take most of the weight.

Comments appreciated.

Yes, still here bro. What’s up? Although I believe the Captain handled that question just fine. If you have another question just ask…..

Bluenun,

With your LOT I would not beat around the bush and attack the ligs so to speak. Work your way down (according to comfort level over time) to the BTC position to maximize gains frm lig stretch. Then work your way up in weight.

Here is the question I was referring to BBS.

Well I just completed 4 sets of BTC hanging.
I immediately felt the difference and 4.4 lbs was too heavy so I used 2.2 lbs.

I did find my testicles got in the way using this method, tried putting them both to one side but that made my penis twist (which I understand is not good?) as I hung. So I just hung the weight over my testicles (if you know what I mean) which felt a little uncomfortable.

I searched for pictures of BTC hanging but could not find any. Are there any on this site?

Nothing wrong with ‘bisecting the balls’ - as it is called - when hanging BTC. The one possible drawback I’ve learned is that when using this position a sort of fatigue all its own can creep up in your scrotum and can easily be mistaken for lig fatigue. This “ball fatigue” is the result of pressure from your shaft laying into your scrotum for a prolonged period of time. You have already noted discomfort, so try to remember that feeling in order to distinguish between it and lig fatigue when that comes.

As for having your unit “twist” (I prefer the word ‘turn’ or ‘list’ because it doesn’t confuse with the dreaded ‘twisting within the hanger’ which is a very different thing):
I don’t know where you read that this is a bad thing but I actually like to use this ‘turning’ effect to my advantage. Hanging one set left and the next set right, for example, might help to break down the ligs faster because a higher concentration of weight is being delivered to fewer tough fibers at a time - and all without requiring a heavy-weight level of soft tissue conditioning from the rest of your unit.

I know it looks and feels better to achieve a symmetrical hang, but I’m convinced something good can come from allowing your unit to turn to either/both sides - as long as you keep track of which direction to turn to from one set to the next you will, in the long run, end up with the symmetry you’re after anyway.

You don’t want to feel anything…remember? :)

It is no set amount of time…when you can not post gains anymore at that weight, move up. IOW, when you can no longer reach fatigue, which would mean your penis has adapted to that weight.

Have you reached your maximum amount of time you have to hang? Worry about that first….then worry about reaching fatigue. Then worry about gains. Then, after all that, worry about moving up in weight.

Hope this helps….Peace.

Cap, thanks for mentioning about ball fatigue. I will try to distinguish between that and lig fatigue.

Great to know that turn or list is nothing to worry about. Not sure where or if I did read it was a bad thing.
I was swapping sides with each set I hung for so that was more luck than judgement :)

When hanging BTC I am laying on the edge of my sofa to get the right angle.

Am I right in thinking you mainly hang SO or SD Captn? I remember you saying that you work at your PC while hanging.

“Work” at my PC is a generous way of putting it, but yes I have largely concentrated on low angles SD/BTC in an effort to exhaust whatever lig potential I have.

Getting there.

And there in lies my problem with being able to tell when to move the weights up. I don’t measure. Period. I remember back when I first started PE I used to meausure constinently and when there was no growth, I would think “WHy the hell am I doing this….I can’t believe I ever believed this worked…”. You get the idea…A whole lot of negativity. So to resolve that problem, I now do what Dino and many others do which is almost never measure (except for when I started). If I do decide to meausre, it’ll prolly be at the 6 month and 1 year mark. And about the reaching fatigue thing, to be completely honest, I really haven’t fell fatigue hanging SO yet. Even when I did 9 sets the other day I didn’t feel fatigue. I mean, when the set was over, and I was in the act of taking the weights off, I could feel the pull ease off my dick, but I really wouldn’t call that fatigue.

Yea, I’ve definently reached the maximum amount of time I have to hang. I hang practically whenever I can, and with school starting back up in like a week, I should still be able to get in alot of time.

I have that same problem, but we should all measure at least once a month if nothing more to see if what we are doing is working. Oherwise, you have no way of knowing and if changes are necessary.

It will come. You might not reach fatigue every day but you can also reach it over time, like a period of days or maybe even weeks. It will come though.

This excellent thread has opened my eyes.
I got a hanger a month and a half ago and started hanging happily, upping the weight rather quickly, as you can read here:

Faust’s log

The result: no gains.
I thought "more is better", not only regarding time, but also weight.

Quote
"You should never feel the weight. At no point in time did I ever feel any pain, tension, discomfort, etc. If I did, I dropped weight, adjusted, or was done for the day" (given by BIB) This struck a bell in my head as to just how passive hanging is.

Higher weights are a result of gains. Not the opposite.

This makes perfect sense to me now. I’m going to take a break of two weeks from hanging and restart with less weight. Thanks so much guys!
