Weekends off . . . yes or no?

So I last did PE on Friday. I usually take the weekend off so my penis can heal and recover. I’m not sure however if this is the best thing after today. I decided to try getting hard just to see where I’m at, and I was thoroughly depressed to see how much girth I apparently lost over the weekend. I went from having to squeeze a little bit to get my thumb and index finger to touch (this was just yesterday), to not having to do anything at all for them to touch when making a grip. I’ve been back at this for two months now. I know that isn’t terribly long, but with how thick it gets during the exercises, I’d expect at least something to stick. I’m wondering if I’m hurting my gains by taking a full two days off every week? What do the vets think?

I have two words for you: Active Rest. In other words, nothing at the level of intensity your real PE routine involves, but not “do not disturb” levels of rest. A world record sprinter might take a couple days off, but he’s not gonna force himself to sit on the couch and not even walk.

I’m always doing pe, even on my off days. It may only be a minute or so of manual stretching or manual clamping here or there, but I think it reduces regression from one session to the next

That sounds pretty reasonable. Maybe on off days do some light stretching and just enough jelqs to keep the plump.

Okay, so I orgasm once a week, either during self stimulation or sex. The reason I limit myself this way is because I find PE to be easier when I’m feeling horny and charged up. I’m thinking it also aids in development of some amount of control.

It happens on Sunday. The release of all that sexual tension followed by being tired from work the next day on Monday often means my erections are weaker than normal. I thought perhaps my perceived loss of girth could be due to that, so I tried again. Had to push myself close to orgasm to get anything resembling a full direction, and even then it wasn’t a 10/10, but I felt like I saw some of my old girth return. This encourages me. Just need to keep working at it and slowly but surely, I will cement those gains.

I always took weekends off to heal. It worked well for me. I also tended to work hard during the week, so that I needed the weekend off.

As with all these things you have to experiment to find out what works for you. If you PE every day and you find that your EQ suffers and so you end up being less effective, then it’s not worth it.

I’m not sure about the concept of active rest unless what you are doing is so minimal it has no effect. A lot of people seem to believe that keeping the penis elongated at low tension helps but it’s hard to parse the data from other people to see if that actually makes a difference.

Definitely true. I find it interesting how a minor variation can make all the difference for one person, but someone else can include it in their routine and see nothing from it.

Right again. Over my days off, I’m not doing anything with high intensity. In my mind, it’s not so much keeping it elongated, it’s repetition. I kinda stole my methodology from contortionists, and the “manual” says that if you take a day completely off, it can take days to recover the lost ground. And that if you can’t train a full session, at least go through the ranges of motion to hold your progress.

If an individual has the potential to gain a half inch in a year, but taking one day completely off takes two days to recover the lost ground, he’ll only gain .3”. If two days off takes three days to recover, then he’s looking at .2”. I don’t think any of us would refuse to do a little “maintenance” on off days to more or less double our gains each year. And I can imagine that with some guys, 2 days off could possibly take 4-5 days to recover. For them, it could reduce them to gaining nothing, or maybe .1”.

A few shower jelqs, a piss pull here and there, and maybe a handful of short medium-intensity manual clamps over the weekend starts looking like a small investment with a big return. Hell, I’ll even take it if it makes the difference between an inch in 3 years vs 4.

Anecdotally, I was chasing length until recently, so I was only doing light manual stretching and 60-70 shower jelqs on my off days. I gained nothing in girth during that time, but once I reached sufficient intensity in my pumping routine, I gained 1/8” BPEL within a month.

Now that I’ve reached my length goal, I’ve started manual clamping here and there over the weekend, and I’ve already seen a small bump in MSEG over the past two and a half weeks. Very small bump, nothing to shout from the rooftops, but its more girth progress than I made in the 6 months before that. And I didn’t change my pumping routine. I’m still using the same technique and pressure. So I have to assume (as bad as I hate to do that) that including the minor girth maintenance on the weekends has made the difference

I think you’re well into the realm of things that will make no difference physically. If it keeps you focused and positive mentally though…

+1 for weekends off. I think it’s good to let your penis heal and also helps prevent the tissue stiffening quicker.

Well, days off or not? The answer depends on what kind of strain your dick is having to go through. I would not take rest days for extender or ads. Nor would I for hangers. I actually haven’t found any excercise to be in need of a 2 days rest. But then, I don’t do extreme excercises that could cause pain so there really isn’t a need for rest days since there is nothing that was broken and have a need to be fixed.

So, my conclusion after reading the replies is as follows; so called active rest, and weekends off are both viable options, and a man can gain doing either one. I think I will stick with weekends off, along with my rest day at mid week. Like memento, I tend to really fatigue my penis, so time of for healing and recovery, as well as keeping PIs positive is a good thing.
