Because I’m an idiot!

I’ve just realised, reading another thread, that when I BP the ruler into my fat pad to measure the length, I completely forgot to deduct the ‘blank’ end of the ruler that was pressed against my skin. This is approximately 1/4 inch long. So, hey presto - an extra 1/4 inch on my EL for my base stats. :)

Yeah. Those rulers can be tricky.

You have to watch them every minute.

Can’t take your eye off them for a second.

Seriously, I have a cylinder for the pump that has tape measure stuck on it, and it drove me a little nuts as I couldn’t figure out why I was losing .25” in the tube whenever I pumped. Then I realized that there was a difference that had to do with the edge of the cylinder - I had assumed that the manufacturer would take that into account. The difference was .35”. I thought I was going a little nuts for about a week or so.

After I figured it out I felt like a retard for a few minutes.

It’s good when that happens every once in a while (as long as as it’s only once in a while).

Gives us a chance to laugh at ourselves. :)

Wooden ruler. Cut off the blank bit and radius the edge for comfort.

Same here: $.29 Staples wooden ruler, ground off the extra on a disc sander. Then I put a layer of electrical tape around the cut end, much more comfortable that way.

Mine’s a metal ruler - none of your plastic crappola - so can’t cut the end off, well, not easily anyway. As for differing length of wooden rulers - I guess in the end it doesn’t really matter as long as you use the same ruler each time. :)
