I think I have a weakened thyroid. I’m going to take my temperature every morning to see whats up. Anyone else have low temp in morning? How can one increase thyroid productivity? Thanks.

Taking your temperature every day, once before you get out of bed in the morning, then again in the afternoon and again in the evening is a good idea. Do that for three days and you should have a good feel for how you are doing.

To get your thyroid going again, I suggest that you make a protein shake with whey isolate protein each day. Then buy either a bottle of Lugol’s solution, or Iodoral pills for an iodine supplement. When you are taking both, that is about as much support that you can give your thyroid. Do that for a couple of weeks and see if your temps change. If not, off to your doctor for thyroid blood tests.

Why not go to the doc. I’m gonna get my thyroid and other hormones checked out. I think I may be hyperthyroid as I never put on weight and always nervous, anxious, sweating a lot.

Go to the doctor refresh. Very few of us here have the medical background to adequately diagnosis your issues. Go see a doctor.

For Lampwick, becoming hung like a donkey was the result of a total commitment.

Because I’m on around a 2300 diet, and I seem to be gaining weight, but it might be due to carbs. I’m fixing it around, but I’d also like to just be sure. I’m going to do the thermometer check couple times this week and see.

There are a lot more variables to weight gain or loss than just your calorie intake, your carb intake or your thyroid level, Refresh9. What about your body mass, your BMI and your amount of body fat, and your general activity level, to name just a few factors? And your metabolism can increase or decrease based on other factors. If you diet, your body may think that you’re starving and cut your metabolism back. That’s not what you want if you are trying to lose fat, but your body is looking to your survival.

Weight gain is not in itself a bad thing. You can put on muscle mass (which is denser than fat), get more lean and trim, and weigh more. Don’t worry about gaining weight; worry about gaining fat.
