CarbonSkeptic Progress

My first post.

I just turned 60, am in great health, muscular, good cardio, body fat around 20%, not far from defined abs. I could use some feedback and suggestions. I’ve got thick skin so don’t spare my feelings.

I’m dealing with ED. I’ve had a number of GF’s and had sex on average about 1x a week. I’ve been using Cialis or Viagra in very small doses for 15+ years but recently effectiveness has fallen off. I now discover a resistance can be built to this which could be a contributor to my ED (along with age). I recently got a Phoenix, which is a home use shock wave therapy device. It said in the Phoenix instructions better results are achieved by using a pump afterwards. I follow Sterling Cooper on YT and he mentioned a Bathmate, so I got myself an extreme. In doing a little online noodling, I ended up here. I’ve been doing some reading, but like shopping in a mega shopping mall, am a little overwhelmed by choice (in this case widely dispersed info).

I have been using the Bathmate when flaccid, which I now read is not ideal. Sort of a chicken and egg situation, having ED. I have noticed some pretty big girth gains and minor length gains in the 2.5 weeks I’ve been pumping. I do find the near immediate size increase from pumping to be somewhat addictive.

There’s no gauge but I’ve been following instructions of no more than 3 minutes, no more than 3 times within 24 hours. One first use I got excited and pumped too quickly and gave myself minor piticiae on the shaft and small blisters on the glans. These were gone within 2 days. This only happened once and I now slowly pump and no reoccurance. I do get tenderness at the base of the glans from pumping and some discomfort at full vacuum that the ungaged Bathmate can acheive with the pumping bulb.

Between pumping and the Phoenix I’m now getting more morning wood and easier erections. I just woke up from a nap with a semi and immediately pumped. I’ve avoided using porn as I didn’t want to make arousal with the GF more difficult. I think I’ll be breaking that rule to get hard for pumping.

Being semi retired means I’ve got opportunity pretty much all day.

Being a total newb means I have a lot of research to do and confused by some of the acronyms. I started out as 6” long from bone BPEL? And about 6.5” at the base tapering along the length.

I assume pumping from flaccid isn’t a good practice.

Welcome CarbonSkeptic.
We have lots of great information here, and considerable experience spread across many helpful members.

You’ve experienced why we don’t recommend the Bathmate. A few members have them, most pumpers use a pump with a gauge.

The theory on entering the pump tube erect or flaccid is that by entering erect you reduce the amount of edema buildup as compared to entering flaccid. If one monitors their progress they can also manage the edema buildup. By the way, edema is not “bad” per se, and is re absorbed within a few hours. A little bump in girth from pumping induced edema can lead to some fun sex with your SO.

I always enter the pump tube flaccid and I’ve had length and girth gains.

But always remember that what works for some guys may not work for all guys.

I’m still suffering from ED.
I’ve started doing keegles (sets of 50 for 1-3 seconds, several times a day).
I have finished a 30 day course of treatment using a Phoenix shock wave therapy device.
I’ve been pumping 2-3 times a day using my Bathmate Extreme for about 3 weeks now. I started at 3 minute sessions, max pressure the hand bulb pump would give me which did produce some discomfort at the base of my glans and glans. I also noticed some plumping of my foreskin starting within an hour of pumping and shrinking within another hour or three.

I have gained girth but minimal length.

I have a couple of GF’s and it’s been mostly oral sex for the last while. The shy one hasn’t commented but the other has noticed and appreciated my new girthiness.

I should mention I’m also on TRT, very low dose. I’ve been using cialis or viagra for about 20 years in minor dosages for about 75% of my encounters, and only recently has it lost effectiveness. I mention this as to me it appears I’ve had mild ED for some time now that has finally gotten to the point of droopage. I don’t believe TRT to be the culprit, it has increased my libido and helped me to get more out of my workouts. More muscle, very low bodyfat, better physical endurance, cleared up brain fog.

I’ve slightly reduced my TRT dosage just recently and wil have bloodwork done in a few weeks. One of the side effects is increased estradol levels. I’m slightly elevated but not above what’s considered normal. Might be higher than my normal, which is why I cut back on TRT dosage. I am under direction of a doctor btw.

So I setting ED aside, I’m really enjoying my new size. I’d like to increase length with a goal of going from 6” BPEL to 7.5”. I am finding it somewhat difficult to get erect to jelq however. I have been able to get a decent semi prior to pumping but have to be quick to get under vacuum.

I’m also considering getting a brake bleed kit with a gauge to replace my bulb pump. I think this might improve the bathmate (opinions?)

So considering where I’m at right now is it practical for me to hope for any length gains via pumping? Should I consider a weight or some other device since jelqing seems to be off the table for now.

Hi CS,

You’ve come to the right place. Thunders has everything to offer. Maybe try manual stretching/ fulcrum etc. there’s tons of descriptions on this site. I’m on TRT and moved to cialis recently.

My ED was a real psychologic block for me. Doing a manual routine and focusing on blood flow really helped when I was struggling.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been on TRT and what dose? And cialis, how much?

Stay safe!

Hi Brawndo

Nice avatar.

I’ve been on TRT for just over 12 months. I started at .4ml testosterone cypionate twice a week (=.8 weekly), then reduced to .35 (.7 weekly) when estradol jumped and erections got less predictable. This is intramuscular BTW. I started by using 3ml syringes and 22g x 1.5” needles. I’m now using 1ml syringes and 25g needles. I switched to .2 every second day (.7 weekly) for more even levels. Bloodwork over the last year had my free T levels rise as well. My most BW still had me over 580, so I’ve just cut back to .17 every two days (.6 weekly).

The 3 ml syringe wasn’t accurate enough, the 1 ml is much more accurate. The 25 g x 1.5” needle is much more comfy. Some go subcutaneous injection but nodules (welts) is pretty common and absorption differs from intramuscular, so I’ve stayed with what’s been working and am zeroing in on my ideal dose.

I was using cyalis mostly. I got the highest dose pill (cheaper on dispensation fees) and just bit a corner off. My dose was very low, I did get a boost but half of it was psychological. Lately I’ve taken more but with little effect. I follow Sterling Cooper on YT who has mentioned that prolonged use will create resistance. I was using approx once a week. I’m not sure how much and how often creates resistance, but there’s no free lunch with anything.

I did a little noodling and think I’m going to order a phalosun for a stretch routine. I spend a lot of alone time so prolonged wearing shouldn’t be an issue.

According to Phoenix instructions, I’m supposed to take 30 days off, and then resume another 30 day course of treatment.

I’m hoping between pumping, phoenix and soon to be added stretches this kitchen sink jumble will solve the ED and leave me with a brand new impressive unit. I’m sorry I didn’t find this PE forum decades ago.

Interesting. I’m about 4 months on TRT. 20 units daily via small insulin syringe, subcutaneous. 5 mg cialis daily. I haven’t checked any blood work since first visit with doc. My change has been tremendous in mood and libido. I let off cialis for 5 days so far and my EQ is definitely dependent on that. Much less without the drug. Thanks for sharing about tolerance and possible dependence. I’m going to work towards less C.

Good luck, good gains!

I assume you’re getting frequent bloodwork done. I still haven’t nailed my levels after a year. I’m fully on external T but there are methods to maintain some measure of natural T in addition to supplements. It won’t happen without tweaking and definitely not if you’re only on T. Your levels will be unstable as natural production declines in favor of external. There’s also a threshold of about 3-4 months where you’re committed to external for life depending on your age.

Just like PE here has a ton of resources, so does TRT. I’m new to both, so I’m no expert.

I picked up a brake bleed kit and did an experiment with my Bathmate Extreme.

The Bathmate uses a rubber bulb to draw a vacuum. I made an adapter and measured the vacuum the bulb was capable of . 10” HG was typical and I got 12 once. I’ve been using that pressure for 3 weeks, which explains a few things.

I reversed things and used the bleeder with gauge to draw 5” just to “feel” that lower pressure. I definitely didn’t fill the tube as much.

subbed because of the trt discussion.

So my Phallosan arrived. I’m at day 3 with this thing and have had to read instructions a few times. I’m flattered to need to use the largest glans cup.

I think I’m on the rebound from ED and have to admit to a bit of teenage excitement at the prospect of a bigger unit. I used that as an excuse to rationalize spending $$ on the Phallosan.

All the ED corrective tools make big promises and my kitchen sink approach hopefully will fully resolve things. Whether for ED or PE all things point to better blood flow.

Looking at penile anatomy I spotted an opportunity for further use of the Phoenix. The erectile tissue extends beyond just the penis, but further to the anus. I’ve started using the Phoenix in the “taint” area. The instructions say use no more frequently than every 36 hours, and no more than 30 days. I spent 30 days following instructions just doing my penis. I’m on Phoenix hiatus for the penis and am going to spend the next 30 doing the “taint”.

The routine I’m going to try to follow is start the day with Phallosan, then Phoenix, followed by a Bathmate pumping session.

I assume within a week or so I’ll be using Phallosan overnight. When that happens I’ll open the day with a Phoenix and then a pump session.

I returned my brake bleeder pump. After using it a few times I realized I could simply go by feel. I assume eventually I’ll be able to tolerate the full available pressure from the Bathmate pump of 10-12 inches.

I’m now woken up several times a night with a fully erect raging hard on. It’s like I’ve got a new toy. As an aside, one girl has noticed my Bathmate induced new girthiness, the other has not mentioned it. Both have had a mouthful. Interesting to note how some girls are inhibited.

What you are describing is the crus penis, or crura. A typical eswt treatment includes the crura with the shaft.

Initial: 7” BPEL; 6” NBPEL; 5.25” - 5.5” MEG

Current: 7-7/8” BPEL; 7-3/8” NBPEL; 8.5” BPFSL; 6.5” MEG; 6”x5” Flaccid.

Goal: Improved/consistent EQ while managing ED. Secondary: maintain current stats.

I’m not surprised this isn’t a new idea. I’m somewhat surprised this isn’t part of the Phoenix instructions.

In any case I see no harm and feel like I’m making progress. Even if placebo it’s worth something.

With the Phallosan I’ve rolled my foreskin into the sheath which is painful and not advised. There’s a “comfort cap” which is intended to go over the glans. Instructions say experienced uses usually omit this. I discovered the “hard way” that I’m not an experienced user, regardless of how smart I think I am.

Phallosan and exercise?

I lift weights in my basement during which I elevate my heart rate and increase circulation. I believe blood pressure actually drops during exercise as vessels open up.
In any case I’m wondering if wearing the Phallosan while lifting would be beneficial. BTW I’m thinking only for upper body stuff, not squats and and the like.
