Cyclinder Flange

Cyclinder Flange

Hi All,

I want to buy a new cylinder.

The one I have got at the moment has not got a flange(think it is a Kaplin off the top of my head).

However, I see the likes of LA pump offer a cylinder with a flange at the base.

Is having a flanged cylinder better?

Thanks,

Rob

Certainly more comfortable at the point where the base of the cylinder presses into the groin. I suppose if that allows you to do longer, more productive pumping sessions, then it probably is better.

Home made cylinders

I use 2” pvc central vac pipe. I tried to heat form a flange, but really need proper forms for shaping. (No luck with that so far) I found a flange on a old central vac ( made for that 2” pipe) and a pistol grip brake bleeder pump ($25 Canadian). I have been using this semi regularly ( couple of times a week) for a few years. I think I was naturally 6 & 3/4”, now 7 & 3/4”. I want to go for the so-called ‘magic’ 8”. Say what you want, my wife gets ‘off’ on the larger size.

Has anyone found any cheap over the counter (home depot, etc) parts that make a good, easy to clean flange, that is comfortable?

I have an LA tube.

For the most part is has been OK, but lately I have getting a bit sore on the left side where the cord goes to the testicles. I see that LA has a silicon pad made for their tubes. I am thinking of giving it a try.

I see LA has a pad for their tubes.

dtwarren I’m glad you posted this. I didn’t know if LA’s pad was just for a better seal, or if it made the tube more comfortable. They just advertised a better seal, but it seems like it would also be more comfortable. I am starting to get pain where the cord goes down to my testicles on the left side. My measurements indicate I have the proper sized tube, and I have been using it for a few months now, but it has just started to hurt in that one spot for some reason.

I have also saw complaints about some of the different brands of base pads tearing and such, but I would expect some decent quality from LA.

You have encouraged me to give the LA pad a try. It’s a little more expensive than the VelSeal, but it is made for the LA tubes.

Hey Peter,

I haven’t tried it, but I read about a guy using a PVC rubber qwik cap as padding for the base of his home made tube. That’s what I’m going to try first if I ever get around to making my PVC tube. All you have to do is cut out the rubber in the center of the cap and you’re left with a pad around the base of the tube.

Before 5.5" x 4.1" ///////// Now 7.4" x 4.9"

You could cut a nice round hole in the quik cap with a saw bit. It would last forever, but be harder than a silicone pad.

I already have a flange on my LA tube, so a qwik cap would add to the diameter of the flange. This may tend to crush my nuts. I would rather have them get sucked into the tube than crushed under the flange, but in your case you don’t have a flange, so it should work out nicely.

I have use the VelSeal gasket on several LAPump cylinders as well as a Boston Pump tapered erganomic shaped base. I bought my first one five years ago and it is still in good shape, only I have increased my cylinder size several times so it no longer fits my current cylinder

Start 11/09 BPEL: 5.5", EG: 4.4"

Current. BPEL: 6:4", EG: 5.5"

I have had very satisfactory experience with a flared cylinder from Vacu-Tech. Their sizing provides for a snugger fit at the base of your penis (acts a bit like a cockring) resulting in an excellent seal without risk of also sucking in your scrotum. I use a thin coat of Bio-Oil for lube. It also insures a good seal.

I had good luck using clay for making a wider more comfortable base. I just put a clay base on my new cylinder and I am just waiting for it to dry to try it out. I will let you know how it turns out. Might take a picture of it and post here. It worked really well for the homemade tube I put together years ago.

Current 5.5 NBPEL x 5.75 Base EG - 5.25 MSEG 7" BPSFL

Short Term Goal 6 NBPEL x 6 MPEG

Long Term Goal 8 NBPEL x 7 MPEG (why not dream BIG?)

I ended up sending for the LA gasket. The VelSeal site was more complicated to order from. I think LA would put out pretty good product, and after looking into it more, I think the LA gasket actually costs a little less. It’s supposed to come tomorrow :)
