Base Issues From Pumping

Hello,

I am 6.75” length x 5.6” girth. Past few days been pumping in a 2” wide tube. I pump between 5-7.5 HG. I can pump up to a length of about 7.25” inside the tube.

Well I think I injured myself at the base. The tube digs in too much at the base where the dorsal vein is. I noticed small red dot there and now days later there is discomfort in that area if I press on it.

So my question is this:

How can one prevent the tube from digging into the base so much??? It is a real limiting factor for me with pumping.

Thanks,

Frypup

Is the base of your tube entirely smooth? If there are any imperfections you can sand them out of acrylic or ABS.

Are you moving the tube around? If you don’t have a generous fat pad, a tube can cause bruises to the pubic region, especially if you’re holding it at anything but 45 degrees from your pubic region.

Is the tube cleaned regularly? If the tube is dirty it could be hosting bacteria or fungus that could gain entry into the skin more easily since pumping can disrupt skin barrier integrity. If they did get in, the infection would cause soreness, among other things. I like to use a glycerin based lube particularly for this reason, since it suppresses microbial activity when it’s around 75% of the lube by volume.

Starting: 7"bplx5.2" 2017 (shrunk from disuse)(originally 8"bplx4.5", gained to 9"bplx6")

Current: 9.0"bplx6.125" 2020

Goal: 11.5"bplx7" 2021.

Hi,

I clean it after each session. It is smooth and flanged. Even when I use a cushion at the base it does not help.

I find it really hard to believe that no one else is having this problem.

Frypup

I’m experiencing an issue that I feel may be related. My tube seems to put a good amount of pressure around the base of my penis and it feels like my dorsal vein has swelled some only at the base because of it.

Also not sure how to fix it. I tried modifying the o-ring/sleeve to be slightly wider and all that did was lead to leaks.

If you are not doing this already, this might help. Try entering the tube erect and bone press the tube into your crotch as you begin to pump up.

The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

Hey FryPup,

another possibility is over training. Seems that you are not used to the cylinder. Give your base some time to expand i.e. doing a short set with a smaller cylinder first as a warm-up.

There are unconditioned structures that need some time to adjust when switching to a bigger cylinder.
Just do some lower intensity sessions to get comfortable or go slower in the beginning of the session until you got a satisfactory seal.
If you pump up too aggressively at the start of the session it can hurt. Take your time ;)
Had similar issues when I used my 2.25 for the first sessions and started out as usual.

If this doesnt work there is the option of buying a really thick pump sleeve/cushion (something like juicy oxballs) or a cylinder with a really big flange (maybe a thickwall customized cylinder ?).

Hello gprent,

I always enter the tube either flaccid or semi-erect. I will try your suggestion, but it is very difficult to stay fully erect in the tube as it offers little stimulation.

Hello pe_pe,

I have tried pump sleeves and have had no success with them. They constrict the shaft and reduce sensation.

If thick pump cushions like the oxballs juicy and cylinders with a big rim/flange (something like a lapd cylinder with a bigger rim) dont work, you will need to change your pumping style and resort to lower pressure ranges to avoid the complications (or do shorter sets to minimize the uncomfortable feeling if you still want to use high pressure).

7 inHg is a lot of pressure tbh. Personally its my max. At 6 inHg I start to experience the same digging you describe when using big unaccustomed cylinders without a rim or not warming up. Seems you are not ready to handle the high pressure at the moment in a bigger cylinder.

Maybe you could describe your routine and pumping back ground. If you are not pumping for months you should avoid high pressure ranges until you can handle them properly.

Another option would be pumping with a bigger cylinder with the aim of developing your base ( 2.25” - 2.75”). In my case this is best done with long low pressure sessions.
In these sessions your aim wont be size. You just want to create expansion at the base.

Another option is full package pumping (I prefer this method, but not everybody wants to pump their balls for safety reasons).

My routine was 2-3 sets of 20 min. each. Pressure at 7.5 HG for 20 seconds, then down to 3 HG., then up to 7.5 HG for 20 seconds and repeat.

I tried using at lower pressures up to 5 HG but did not feel much of a pull, but still felt too much pressure at the base.

I have tried full package pumping but do not see how that can develop a base.

I have a 3.25” tube and a 2.75” tube. Not sure how long low pressure pumping would develop a base.

How long and at what pressure?

If you got problems with digging pains, this style might not be the best suited for you.
By re-pumping in a dynamic way you press the rim for a lot of repetitions in your sets into your base.

In my eyes I would concentrate therefore more on steady vacuum and shorter sets.

20 Mins is way too long if you got problems. I would do 10 min sets and use the breaks for massaging the base for some pain release.

Seems that you were over training at this point and missed out on proper conditioning.
Imo not a good idea to push the intensity instead of acknowledging your “bad” Pi’s and doing lower intensity work.

The problem with pumping is that minor injuries or over training can backfire weeks later.
In my eyes your base is over worked at this point.

I can recommend not to concentrate on length in the beginning, but on expansion and volume. A strong pull induced by high vacuum is not necessarily needed for expansion.

" PE is a helluva drug. "

Steady vacuum and shorter sets, totally agree with above posters.

Instead of pumping up to 7+ and then releasing pressure to 3hg, have you tried pulling on the tube slightly, like you are “jerking off,” to gently increase pressure in the tube in ways similar to dynamic pumping or pumping up then down? I do this pulling technique, I might pull maybe a quarter to half an inch out and pressure goes up about a half to one whole inch. This would pull the cylinder away from your body, keep pressure up and reduce that constant 20+ minute hard contact with your body. Maybe this would be comfortable?

Starting length, Spring 2003: bpel 6 3/8", bpfsl ~6 1/2", flaccid ~3-4" (never measured flaccid stretched or hanging flaccid; starting girth was probably ~5"-5 1/4")

Summer 2004: bpel 7 7/8", bpfsl 8 1/8", flaccid ~4", erect girth 5.3"

Spring 2018: bpel 7 1/4", bpfsl 7 5/8", erect girth 5 1/8"; Spring 2020: bpel 7 3/4", bpfsl 8", erect girth 5 3/8". Current - August 2023: bpel 7 3/4", bpfsl 8", erect girth mid shaft 5 1/4" (5 1/2" at base)

How long did you full package pump? Pumping is a marathon. Conditioning takes months.
In my case it conditioned my base for bigger cylinders that I couldn’t seal at first and did hurt.

If you pump cock only you can use more pressure of course.
High pressure can develop a base too if you are conditioned ;)

But full package pumping only needs like 2-3,5 inHg (5 inHg is considered as high pressure for ball pumpers).
So I was already limited in the pressure range choice to begin with ;)
Full package pumping pumps up a very large area at the base. More than classic pumping.
That is why it is very effective and a good choice if base development is the goal.

Check this thread out.
Wrote down a beginner low pressure routine and gave some other advice in this thread that might be useful.
Or check out titleist’s thread. Another good low pressure pumping style.
