What kind of gains per session do you get?

This thread has been very interesting so far. Please keep up the great work.

There was a thread similar to this waaaay way back in the day that tracked BIB’s progress by month, and a few others…and if I remember there was sometihng like this at the Hubbard boards before as well.

If memory serves me correct, I think on average (don’t quote me here) you needed like 100-150 hrs of hangtime to get an inch. or was it a half inch…

I will try to find the thread and post a link…if someone knows what I’m talking about, chime in. Maybe search for “rate of gain.”

BBS is back! Good to see you again. As for the gains per session, after I hang I notice a slight increase in flacid hang throughout the day. I notice it doesn’t turtle as much or it doesn’t get to it’s smallest point as much.

BBS, yes I do recall reading about those previously mentioned rates of gain. I believe that it was 150 hrs per 1” gain.

I just got an email back from the Bib man himself verifying the number is much higher than 150 hours per inch. He basically said he hung 50 hours a week or so for 2 years and gained 4.5”.

50hrs X 104 weeks is 5200
5200 hrs / 4.5”- 1155 hours an inch.

Bib said he thinks the results would have been similar if he had only hung 4 hours a day versus 8 hours. Either way, his numbers are nowhere close to 150 hours/inch.

Anyone have 4 hours/day for the next 2 years for academic purposes? LOL Gotta hand it to Bib, the man was driven.

Here’s the thing to remember guys. First of all Dreamaloud is right the ADS hang time should be factored in and I didn’t do that in my stats. I only looked at the actual hanging sets. Second of all when you look at Bibs stats understand that his gains were at significantly higher weights then where I’m at. I’m not sure if I am going to end up in the same weight territory that he did. I haven’t been there yet, but what I do know so far is that my hanging weight hasn’t had a need to change in the last 14 months. I rarely hang 20 lbs and most of the time sit around 13 to 16lbs. I only move up when I feel the need to break up the ligs a little and back down I go for maybe a week or more all the while maintaining my ADS daily. I was surprised with this exercise because even when I only got in 1 or 2 sessions a week for the last 3 months I still registered some gains. They weren’t much 1/16” to 1/8” in a month but hey a gain is a gain.

Yes, that was an excellent peice of work. I seem to think it was Wadzilla that started the thread. I’ll see if I can find it, Thunder if you see this I know you are good at finding these old threads.

Let’s take a quick look at something else though. I figured 20 to 24 sessions per 1/8”. That is equal to 400 to 480 hrs of hang time per 1/8”. So 1 inch would be 3200 to 3840hrs per inch. Now that’s without ADS time. That’s just straight 20min session time. Throw in the ADS time and my numbers could be right on Bib’s only with a whole lot less weight and I’m not having to be a recluse to do it. No offence Bib. We’re only taking 1 hr to 1 1/2hr per day and that wasn’t even consistent. I’d lose at least one or two days a week to loss of privacy or other family obligations and no Sundays.

So all you guys out, there it all counts. Every session you get in should be getting you closer to your goal. Just don’t take any time outs that allow healing and Plateauing unless your deconditioning.

Monty

I think Monty’s been staying up too late again! LOL For 20 sessions to equal 400 hours each session would be 20 hours long.

When you say “session” do you mean 1 set of 20 minutes or are you combining both 20 minute sets into one session?

Boy are you right…… I got to thinking about that and went crosseyed. It’s late again so I hope I’m in better shape. Kick me if I start snorring, K?

I meant to say that 20 to 24 sessions or sets (20min each) would equal 400 to 480 MINUTES which would give me 1/8” of gain at the high end of 8 hours.

That doesn’t seem like very much but that’s what my figures are showing. Maybe my dick is just a lot of taffy.

Add in my ADS time of usually 40 hours a week at least combined with the 8 hours of heavy weights and that still isn’t an excessive amount of devoted time compared to Bib, is it? BTW 20 to 24 sessions might take two weeks to complete.

I’m paying attention to all of this figuring that is going on. I know that each of us will respond differently to hanging, but it is inspiring to me to read about. I have had a hard time sticking to my plans and not missing PE sessions. The theory of ligs healing to only get tougher explains alot about my PE experience so far.

Monty, how many rings/PE weights do you use when your ADSing?

I used 3 for over a year and just recently went to 4. I couldn’t wear 4 previously it was just to uncomfortable but recently I not only gained the length necessary to handle more but my wrap technique got good enough to make them work.

Monty, I am wearing 4 of your rings daily until I can’t stand it any longer, then drop one off for the rest of the day. This usually occurs after about 3-4 hours. BTW I have come to the same conclusion as you as to a routine that will work. The only difference is that I just recently figured it out after trying other methods that did not work for me and waisting a lot of time. Thanks for an excellent thread, particularly the conformation that reasonable weight amounts produce results; I wasn’t sure how high I needed to go.

I would be interested to hear about your new and improved wrapping technique for your rings.

Yea that sounds about right….also there was something like this on the old Tom Hubbard site.
