What is "magic" about the 20 minute set

I am fairly new to hanging. I’ve done my reading on this site and Bib’s site.
I understand that the convention is that you:

1. Use the amount of weight that is required to get you to fatigue in a 20 minute set
2. Add weight in small increments in order to “ride the fatigue”
3. Mange your time such that you hang for at least 10 hours a week
4. Use Heat

This is what I have done for the past month or so. I am still hanging BTC as my primary angle and SD as my secondary in order to maximize my lig gains before attacking the Tunica.

The issue that I have is that I loose a lot of time between sets with unwrapping, jelqing, and re-wrapping.
I have tried to stay wrapped between sets … but that doesn’t seem to give me the relief that I require.

In order to boost the total hanging hours, I have been tinkering with the idea of doing 30 minute sets.
I would apply the same concepts as above but would probably end up increasing the weight at a lower rate.
My logic is that in addition to increasing the total hanging hours, I would also increase the amount of time that I am “riding the fatigue”

Has anyone experimented with sets that are longer than the magic 20 minutes?

Sets longer than 20 minutes aren’t a good idea with the Bib’, because it is a clamp-style hanger, which cuts too much the blood flow.

People who use a vac-style hanger are able to do longer sets without much trouble.

Are you having some swelling between sets? If so then maybe your wrap is too tight. I use the black thera, it is more elastic than the silver.

Limiting the sets to 20 minutes has to do with the tourniquet effect. I recall hearing that the limit is 17 minutes. Hanging promotes some blood flow so 20 minutes has been the accepted time.

I found that going over a few minutes accidentally is not too big a deal. If it gets to be more than 25 minutes I have felt some numbness.

It is your penis so you can experiment as you see fit. I personally would not do it because I do not have a time contraint.

You risk injury and numbness if you go more than 20 mins. When you hang enough weight you do not want to have it more than 20mins on your dick anyway.

Unwrapping and jelqing is a huge waste between sets. What I do is squeeze my penis after the set so all blood goes out, then BTB jelq for a minute or so and slap my unit against my leg. My rests between sets takes about 5-7mins.

Maybe your wrap is way too tight if you can’t get fresh blood without unwrapping. You might also need more than 10mins rest between sets.

IMO, you do not need SD if you are doing BTC. BTC is superior vs SD.

I use a Captn’s Wench that I made myself. But I think that your point still applies. Over the past couple sessions I have attempted to push the sessions a bit past 25 minutes and i have noticed that the glans is a bit colder and darker at when I disconnect.

I didn’t think that the wrap was to tight … but I will experiment with loosening it up a bit and see if I am able to go without completely unwrapping and still get the circulation going again. I am not sure if the jelqing that I do in between sets will be possible/practical without unwrapping.

Do you have another secondary angle to suggest while I am still in the Lig-stretching phase of my hanging career, or should I just stick to BTC until I am ready to attack the Tunica?

I think you are on the right track.

You should be able to pee with the wrap on.
To restore circulation you can jelq BTB (Behind The Balls) between sets.

Between sets I BTB jelq for 15-20 seconds then go heat my rice sock in the mwave. I am amazed how my timer is often at exactly 10 minutes.
I have found that taking a few (maybe 5) extra minutes between sets can improve the quality of the session by having more comfortable hangs.

I think you should only do BTC. If you ride the fatigue below half of your max weight, then you might do SD or SO. I would do SO.

Slightly different topic …

When hanging BTC … how do you apply the rice sock? At the moment i am holding it (sometimes balancing it) on top of the stretched shaft.

When I hang BTC I’m on my bed and my feet on a couch. It’s very comfortable for me. Then I have my heating pad on my penis and lower stomach. Then my laptop over that. Better to put something between the heating pad and laptop.

I am doing it the same way.

In the BTC angle, the shaft above the hanger is exposed pretty well so I put the rice sock against the hanger and lay it up over my ligs.

As far as balancing it I do something that holds the rice sock pretty well and serves as a “safety” incase I get a sharp pull.

I have a medium sized chain that attaches to the weights and extends up onto my chest. I use this for lowering the weights, and for swing and bounce. I hold it over the rice sock so I do not have to balance. I have to be careful because sometimes the chain gets hot from the ricesock and can almost brand me.

I’ve always kept my clamp on between sets.(Bib)

I just loosen the screw about 10 turns and wait 5 or 10 minutes until my glan takes on a nice pink color indicating it has refreshed the area with oxygenated blood. Then I just tighten down and roll another 20 minute set.

I can get easy two sets an hour this way.

20 minutes was created as the maximum amount of time it is safe to apply a tourniquette. The reason being so, that the area would not recieve enough oxygen and would be supceptible to gangrene. Of course on our penises we do not want to take such a chance. So if you clamp, crush, restrict it - 20 minutes is the max time allowable.

After 20 minutes jelq fresh blood into the area and start again.
