I have been experimenting with intermittent fasting for the last month or so in conjunction with a ketogenic diet. Usually fast for ~16 hours a day, with a half hour walk at the end before finally eating lunch, but I have also done three 24 hour fasts, the last of which was with a full weight lifting workout at the end.

At the same time, my PE routine has been pretty constant for the last 3 months.

Now, I have also lost weight, but my wife has lately been commenting on how much bigger I feel. She knows I do PE, and had reported an increase in size months before, before we started the ketogenic diet, exercise, and IF.

This got me thinking about how intermittent fasting, and especially fasted exercise, increases HGH (human growth hormone) levels, and now I’m wondering whether HGH can be responsible for the recent size increase, or rather acceleration of gains.

Anyone with more knowledge on the subject care to weigh in on the possibility HGH can affect gains?

I do understand that exercise and healthier diet by themselves can increase blood circulation and heart health, which could result in bigger, harder erectione, and that losing weight (fat pad) also yields a visual increase in size.

I agree, with IF I feel better, more energetic, and more clear-headed. But fasting 24 hours is still a bit difficult for me. Only 3 times so far. But it is a relevation that one can skip breakfast, including coffee, and actually feel more awake, energetic, and just better, than with a big breakfast+coffee.

It’s funny you wrote this now because I was considering writing an article about a routine I started about a month ago to break my plateau but included IF (Intermittent Fasting); proper Macros; and the exercise routine were all going to be part of my recommendations.

But to answer your thread; IF has been found to produce up to 5x higher NATURAL HGH hormone levels in individuals who practiced for at least 5 days. Honestly I could talk about IF alone all day. But higher levels of HGH contribute to muscle retention, gains, and fat loss. This coupled with proper macronutrients goals will absolutely aid in growth.

Hey, I’m new here but not to HGH. In theory, HGH should help gains due to faster recovery times. I cycle IGF-1 four times a year and run MK-677 everyday. My recovery is unbelievably fast. I actually recovered from a grade 2 LCL strain in 3 days. I haven’t started PE yet, but plan on it very soon.
