Gain girth to gain length, falacy or falacy

There is a belief here that gaining girth is a hindrance to gaining length, and its one that makes good logical sense to me, if you increase girth more tissue has to grow to allow for length gains. Thats as far as it goes though. I think the general consensus is that what holds up length gains are the ligaments and the tunica. So if increasing girth doesn’t increase the diameter of these elements but simply surrounds them with more easy to grow tissue hopefully the effects of increasing girth are fairly minimal.

I’m not suggesting that people should go all out for girth increases but I think modest girth routines may help along length gains. Why? because doing girth exercises produces a lateral force. When doing length exercises the penis adapts to provide stronger resistance and eventually people have to add weight or take a break or they plateau. Providing a lateral force may cause the resistance to realign to this pressure and less toward length (assuming strengthening has limited scope) thus helping length gains.

The purpose of this post is to get other peoples thoughts on the issue. I know jelktoid is (was?) doing trying to get over his plateau by doing intense horses but to my knowledge he has yet to report. My personal experience would have to be repeated several times before I can prove or disprove anything, so if anyone else has practical experience it would be nice to hear. Also if anyone wants to sound off about the extreme liberties taken with facts herein please feel free. This post assumes that you have already read the posts on girth hindering length gain.

I agree. I am currently doing a combo of hanging and way nasty horse squeezes to try and blast out of my loooong platue. Will post in a few days on my results but it is working…..

It sounds like a sensible theory and one to consider if a current routine wasn’t producing gains. I consider myself a sheep here that follows the success of others. The rubber band theory made so much sense to me I completely stopped girth exercises, temporarily.

I will log your theory in the back of my mind and after six months of hanging, will reconsider things if gains aren’t respectable.

I do all of my length work after girth work…I think the girth work can tire out the tissues, even indirectly, and I notice significantly longer stretches after girth work than doing them before—the tissues are warmed, loose, and fatigued. You can basically reduce a constraint’s (surrounding tissue) effect that way…

Of course, don’t take my word for it until I’m packing 9 or so. :)

Hmm :) All this time and I have never tried doing the girth exercises first. I just adhere to the stretch -> jelq -> girth format. Gonna give that a try but a little worried that doing the girth exercises first means more likelihood of injury. I like a new experiment though, and the logic sounds good :) Thanks.

um, I’m going to have to tick the baffled box, not sure what was confusing you and indeed how the quandary was resolved on your part.


tried the girth exercises first last night. Can’t say I noticed a difference in the way it felt physically or indeed in after session flaccid girth. I am quite timid with these exercises though, after early bad experience.

That breathalyzer thing again.


After girth exercises I am typically swollen—even semi-erect it is 1/4 to 1/2 inch fatter than my normal erection.

To each their own I would imagine :)

Yes but I did just move the serious girth exercises to before the jelqing, so if anything I guess a smaller girth flaccid is what I would have expected. Anyway I will try it again, no point in doing something once and giving up. I do all my stretching in the morning and jelqing/squeezes in the evening. I guess to totally follow what you are say I should move the stretching to the evening or do girth exercises in the morning before stretching.

I think one of the reasons people do the girth exercises last in their session is that the are pretty intense and so it seems natural to stop immediately afterwards.


By no means am I real large expert on this subject…it’s what I have been discovering is working pretty well thus far, just from looking at the bigger hang I’ve been getting.

The logic came from working out—typically stretching after you work out is a great time to do it, as your muscles are loose, full of blood, and much less resistant to the stretch than normal.

I could be wrong…and it does have the disadvantage of forcing a larger time commitment at one shot.

hmm, yes but (to point out the obvious) stretching ligaments/soft tissue is a different thing to stretching muscles.

I know from yoga that a good way to stretch ligaments is to ease into the force extremely slowly and then its almost like there is no force.

But to do this effectively you need to raise the body temperature and increase the blood flow. So if you do girth exercises before stretching maybe the increased blood flow and warmth generated helps.

I measure my hang after each session and I notice that the girth exercises (at the end of a session or at the beginning) increased post session length but I’m not sure that this is indicative of good growth.

I like the concept of stretching after tiring the tissue though. That makes sense to me :)
