Does Sex/Masturbation Hinder Gains

As a pretty experienced PEer I thought I’d chime in on this long running debate. My view is.. It depends!! I would say if you’re doing heavy PE sessions and are on the verge of over-training then messing around with your dick might just put you into the realms of over-training, especially if you like to jack off for hours on end. Just let that thing recover! If however you do just enough PE to make it count then a quick wank will probably not do anything negative. I also have a feeling that ejaculating often may effect recovery due to reduced blood flow. If you’re horny all the time then your blood flow will probably be improved. I hope this makes sense!

How masturbation affect this progress

Simple question. But let me fix it, so how the masturbation affect the gains of jelqing - stretching etc. Like daily masturbation.

If we work out from the theory that masturbation together with PE is bad.

How long time would one say you would have to wait in order for masturbation having no negative effect on your PE?

More simplified, because my English isn’t optimal:

You just did your workout, but feel like jerking off.
How long time would you wait before you think jerking off wouldn’t have any effect on your PE. IF we say masturbation have a NEGATIVE effect on PE. That is what I believe.

I’ve grown a bit in my time here. I like to cum after my routine. There are times I don’t. There is no correlation. I think the difference is when you cum you lose the edge and zeal to PE again.

There’s no definitive proof any correlation. If you masturbate in excess, or jack off pretty hard, however, then that could possibly affect gains. But again, there’s no definitive proof one way or the other.

That makes it sound like the best bet is to not masturbate for those raised on the precautionary principle. It might be better to state:

No one has shown a correlation between masturbation and gains.
Note: If a correlation was shown it could be positive or negative. Correlation is not causation.

There is no proof that masturbation would have any effect on gains.

I have no scientific proof, but I know that I feel like PE, especially jelquing, feels better and is much easier without masturbation. Since I am just beginning my routine, I believe that I will try to stay away from frequent masturbation, but not because I think it will effect gains. I am also working on re-wiring my brain to treat masturbation as a physical stimulus rather than an emotional and mental one, which is to say, I basically am trying a porn detox. I will masturbate, just not with porn, and not on a daily basis (looking start with 2 week intervals).

I love your username MrPriapus, wish I would’ve thought of it. I feel (based on my experience) that absolutely no masterbation is counter-productive. This is different than abstaining for a few nights in a row, as many people who practice ballooning, etc do.

When I went for 9 months ejaculating as little as possible, sometimes up to 10 days at a time without any ejaculation, my NBPEL went down by a solid .25” (and I measure frequently and accurately). With a max, rock hard EQ I was coming up .25” shorter consistently. I panicked, but after a few days of normal masterbation/erections, this length returned. A case of ‘use it or lose it’, I feel. Without normal, regular erections, you might actually lose size, as I did and as many older men do (those who discover PE often report miraculous recoveries of these losses. Not just spouting BS, have come across this in several cases here at TP).

There are members here like Sta-Kool who consider edging (maintaining rock hard erection for certain sets of time) as a critical component for gains. Whether or not this includes actual ejaculation afterwards I’m not too sure (search for ‘icicle diaries’ if you want to read up on Sta-Kool’s routine). But the practice of ballooning involves not ejaculating afterwards.

Of course, there’s a difference between not ejaculating and not getting erections all together. One could argue that you could continue getting erections and just not ejaculate. But when I abstained from ejaculation I found that after about 5-6 days my sex drive completely crashed and was no more. This resulted in less spontaneous erections, morning wood, etc. Ejaculation is a normal part of maintaining a healthy libido, and when your libido crashes, so does your dick (albeit seemingly temporarily, as I was able to gain my .25” back in a couple days of resumed ejaculation).

I like to have sex after I PE. Particularly jelqing/clamping. It creates a noticeable size difference my wife can feel. So anecdotally at least, PE before bumping uglies works for me.

9 months?! Strong discipline is all I have to say about that! Kudos!

Being married with kids, we shag when we can. Life gets in the way for a little too long (1 1/2 days or so), I’ll rub one out before tension/frustration rears its ugly head. I’ve been doing PE for a year now, but still class myself as a newbie because I feel I’d only nailed the techniques a few months ago and gaining nicely.

One thing that I’ve been doing religiously over the past 4 months since reading about it, is a PE session after Shagging/Rubbing one out.
Whether this has aided or hindered growth, I honestly cannot say. But that isn’t why I do it. What I read talked about reducing refractory time after ejaculation.
I used to be able to ejaculate more than once a shagging session. To be more exact, once in every three or four shags I’d come twice, sometimes thrice.

Nowadays - Three ejaculations, no refractory period. No super sensitivity. At will.

Because I’ve always been a marathon shagger, I don’t go for more than three due to muscle cramping and raw skin.
It’s not like anyone does stretches and warm ups before shagging (though it may be a good idea now that I think of it).

Anyway comrades, I just thought you’d like to know of one more pro for shagging/wanking as a PEer.

If having nice orgasms does indeed hinder growth somewhat, I’m sure it won’t be by much (unnoticeable without a ruler).

Just to clarify, my post shagging PE is in addition to my normal routine.

A light PE session in comparison to my normal sessions, just enough to plump it up a bit. Nothing fancy.
