Depression/ED and PE

Depression/ED and PE

Hey again, so..

I am going through a depression over a bad breakup and have lost much libido and have a tough time getting/maintaining erections at the moment. I read elsewhere that PE while depressed should be absolutely avoided, but in my case, PE is not the cause (and is actually something I look forward to), and I’m not the kind of guy to overdo it and hurt myself during an episode.

That said, will the lack of more consistent and better arousal affect my gains? I’d hate to do PE for two months not having had a single decent erection. Should I get a supplement or two to help me out during this?

It should be noted that I am on medications for depression that are working very well, one of which I changed to eliminate sexual side effects (started Viibryd, a newer SSRI with far lower reported sexual side effects and actually gave me crazy erections when I first started it). But that since has waned and though I am able to be sexually active, I generally do have a hard time getting 100% erect now. Except in the morning. But even that, not lately.

Anyway, sorry to ramble. Thanks!

PE while depressed should be avoided. Regardless of the cause, it pretty much always goes badly.

This member had depression from other sources and it only got worse with PE going badly. 6 weeks into newbie routine and dick is shrinking. What am I doing wrong?

I just don’t see it as a good choice. PE needs a positive mindset to work. If you already have ED and other physical issues from depression PE can’t override those things.

If you don’t have good feelings about your life and health how can PE work at all?

Now: 9" BPEL x 6.25" MSEG as of 11/10/2019 This is my story, a few progress pics of me here, and all my methods.

Then: 6.25" x 4.37" in 8/2009 Are you new to PE? Here's some advice I wish someone had given me when I first started.

My Extender and forward to 10" and balls enhancement project. There is no "Holy Grail" of Penis Enlargement. Only time and effort works. I'm *10* years in and counting. All you have to do is put the work in and keep the faith.

It’s less a general depression about everything and more about this specific relationship. I usually go through a post-break up drop of libido, this one just happens to be worse than usual. I’m not depressed in other areas, including work and PE. I believe all the physiological side effects are from that very specific source. Does that make sense?

Edit: I maybe should have phrased it more in a “will it still be effective if I can’t get consistent and good erections” kind of approach.

Very unlikely to be effective. How will you see progress and gains if you can’t even get fully hard?

That’s fair. I mean, from the little I’ve practiced, if I look at porn and masturbate (or even jelq), I can get ~60-70%, and 80% with kegels. But I don’t know if that’s enough.

But how do guys with more general ED on this forum deal with it? If it never resolves, are they pretty much screwed in regards to PE?

And also, for some people depression never truly alleviates. Will those folks never be able to do PE successfully? I understand the situation in that link that you sent me, but isn’t that more anecdotal than anything?

I promise I’m not trying to sound obstinate. I just feel like there must be exceptions, right? I’m more asking for advice on how to deal with the physiological issues and their effects on PE. I should have framed this question in an entirely different way. That is my fault.

Here, let me just boil it down to a better question: what do guys with ED do about PE? And I’m sure I could have just searched that on the forum. Sorry to have wasted your time.

Depression is the worst illness ever.. In my case I took a hundred pills of etizolam and it helped me. I lived with it for years, it was like a nightmare. I have tried many methods, but nothing helps. I found reviews on the Internet about etizolam, I was so desperate. I was shocked that a few days after using it, I gave up easily and didn’t want to die. Now I really can’t predict my life without it. Thank God that there is such website as where I can buy it at any time. I really recommend it to those who is facing depression.

Etizolam isn’t good for depression. Maybe it works to alleviate the anxiety that exist in some kinds of major depressive disorder. But only temporaryly. It has a high potential for abuse.

Maybe the best medicine for depression (best rated by users) is nefazodone. Sadly I can’t buy it from Spain. Nefazodone is good for panic disorder and major depressive disorder. I think USA medical authorities found that it can provoke liver damage in one case over 100.000. This bad publicity made the main manufacturer abandone the brand, and I think that in USA and Canada you can find this medicine.. It’s a bit expensive. Nefazodone doesn’t produce erectile and orgasm/ejac desordres, as SsRIs and tryciclics does.
Trazodone don’t cause retarded ejaculation nor erectile disfunction, but it may cause heart arrithmias. And is not as effective as nefazodone.

Another alternative if you are not always hungry is combining mirtazapine 15 mg with a minimum dose of a Ssri with lower potential of sexual dysfunction: 20 mg day of fluoxetine (Prozac) or 50 mg sertraline. Maybe you can mix mirtazapine 15 mg with a low dose of Anafranil (clomipramine). Clomipramine is very effective but there are a lot adverse effects (dry mouth etc).
Usually the best antidepressants are the worst for lybido and cause sexual dysfunction.

When you have a major depressive disorder, you’d better not PE. It’s not only because of desmativation. The main reason in my opinion is that most depressed men don’t get good erection, so you can consolidate the gains obtained by stretching or jelqing.

In my case, now I am in a phase of depressive disorder and even whet I take 5 mg day of cialis, it only improves my erection 20%. You don’t get erection not because you have a veaonous leak or a vascular disorder in your penis, but depression don’t let you be sexually motivated (lack of lybido). When I lost my morning woods every day I knew I was depressed. Depression doesn’t mean sad. Depression means some lack of motivation and lack of emotion, insomnia or hypersomnia, binge eating or anorexia, you lose your capability to concentrate on things. So, one of this thing may be sex. When I’m depressed my body doesn’t want sex. I wouldn’t suffer by this while the Antidepressant takes its time to improve your mood, if it was not by the fact that my girlfriend is frustrated by the lack of sex. When you lose your sex drive you are not as sweet or affective as you used to be, and the relationship is in trouble.

So, first try to improve your mental health and then PE again.
