I have heard stuff about cementing gains and it is all kind of abstract can you guys clarify?

It’s an old PE myth. There is no such thing as cementing in my opinion.

Cemented gains just means gain gains that do go away when you stop exercising. When you are doing PE exercises you will probably always be a little bit bigger than you would be if you stopped cold turkey and measured a couple of weeks later. Cementing is about turning these temporary gains into permanent gains. This can be done in a couple of ways: carry on gaining - your end size will probably be a little under the size you measure when PEing, or gradually ramp down your routine so that you no longer gain from it but encourage any remaining temporary gains into becoming permanent.

A couple of notes, though.

Measurement is key - if you measure on days you PE you will be following measurements that are too far out of whack with reality.

Some people have reported supposed cemented gains disappearing. This is not my experience but there are several good sources for quite heavy losses after finishing with PE.
