Hair Loss

Eight years on finasteride. Never any erection problems.

I think you’re thinking too hard about this. Just like a sex-newbie you cause your own problems via a form of performance anxiety.

Yeah, or I’m actually getting mild erection problems.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Now: (August 20 2007) 6.6" BPEL x 4.81" EG. Half way towards my goal! | Current Stats

Short term goal: (3-4 months) 6.8" BPEL, 5.0" EG.. Long term goal (1+ yr): 7.5" BPEL, 5.5" EG.

Lately I haven’t been taking my finasteride every day. I don’t take them on days that I’ll be seeing my girlfriend later that night, because, unless my psych is playing tricks on me, I’m convinced the finasteride weakens my erections.

Sometimes I’ll stop taking the pills for a few days and then my erections are hard again. That’s proof enough for me.

Then stop taking it. You’ve convinced yourself that this is a problem and it always will be if you believe it. Perhaps you’re one of the 2% of men who have erection problems with the drug.

You’ll have to be satisfied with your looks as a bald man or start twice daily application of something topical like minoxidil.

Good luck.

“Far more prevalent in men than in women, progressive baldness can be over come in most cases, so long as it has not caused complete top hair loss. It requires some determined care and attention, but men are rarely prepared to undertake this until it is almost too late. By contrast, women give their hair considerable care and this helps to explain why baldness rarely afflicts them

When the hair becomes light or thin, this care will improve it’s density, for both men and women, irrespective of age. The care must be given from both inside and outside. By undertaking scalp massage, with improved diet, plus emotional balance, baldness can be averted. An inexpensive, round plastic scalp and body massager will suit perfectly.

Stand beside the bathtub each morning before breakfast, bend the head lower than the heart (to facilitate a good blood flow to the scalp) and massage the scalp as vigorously as comfortable, first with the plastic brush then with the fingertips. Be sure to also press the fingertips onto the scalp and move the scalp in all directions. All this works to loosen the scalp, keeping the skin supple and the follicles open and useful.

Plenty of exercise will also help stimulate blood flow to the scalp, especially if you rest between exercises by lying, head downwards, on a slant board. The hair should be shampooed no more than twice weekly. Do not use chemical hair dressings and keep the hair covered when exposed to dirty and dusty situations

Be sure the diet contains adequate polyunsaturated oils, avocado, wheatgerm and green vegetables. A good multivitamin-mineral supplement will also assist. Silica is the important trace mineral for the skin and scalp and this is best obtained from the foregoing foods, plus rice bran (and brown rice) and equisetum tea.”

There’s so much talk of drugs on this thread I just thought I’d add that little piece of wisdom. Healthy diet and good circulation are very helpful in combating hair loss. Also emotional balance is essential, I’ve found that at stressful times in my life that my hair has gotten thinner. Following these guidelines can really help get your scalp healthy and your hair thicker again, and much more besides.

Not trying to dis the finasteride or the guys who have had success with it, more power to ya if it’s helping, just wanted to give Nick an alternative route. I personally hate being at the mercy of the evil pharmaceutical empires, be it for hair, erections, moods, headaches, whatever. They have entirely too much power over our lives these days

Well, I think that 2% stat are the ones who have clinical erectile dysfunction. There is no stat for mild erectile problems.

I can still get hard. Just not as hard. And my penis isn’t the biggest cock in the world as it is, so I’d prefer not to be plagued by erectile problems. Maybe if I was single I’d do it.

Thanks for the info, disraeli. I will remember that. Also I might rotate between finasteride and minoxidil to save my erection.

-Wow, complete bullshit and misandry. Men lose more because of the testosterone metabolite DHT which is the primary contributing factor in Male Pattern Baldness. Not because they are anymore or less lazy then women.

Your not alone bro, I’m off it now but when I was on it I would make sure I took it first thing in the morning because it would screw up my PE routine which was at the time Jelqing, and squeezes and clamping. I found it would be harder to maintain my erection but not impossible. I would also take it early if I was having sex at night if I was having sex early in the day I would pass on it all together.

I have been taking propecia for over 6 months, and I haven’t missed a dose. My erections for the most part are freakishly hard.

Also, taking it early or different times during the day wouldn’t make a difference with your erections. This proves it is physiological.

Sure it would, if you were to take it at 6 p.m. and had a chick coming over at 9 p.m. you would have a much larger dose in your system than you would if you had taken the dose at 6:00 am. All people are different in how they react to something and to think because you haven’t been affected by this drug does not mean that others like myself aren’t. I know what I feel and believe me I want to be able to take this drug and keep my hair it is by far the cheapest and easiest way to keep ones hair. This is a powerful hormone altering drug it’s not an aspirin.

I have a question regarding this new Intercytex.

WHEN?!?!?!

Does anyone know anything more about this? What’s the latest?

I think you will find that testosterone metabolite DHT is ONE of the reasons men lose hair.
Strangely I’e been doing exercises similar to that mentioned by disraeli and there does seem to be some new growth up front. But it’s too early to be certain . I’ll post agian when I find it difficult to see what I’m looking at :)
