DHT Questions

Thanks TS. The more I read studies, the more I realize it is incredibly hard to find studies with the subject being post puberty.

I’ve never used anabolics for muscle gain, but I’m playing with the idea of injecting test in a year or two as I noticed signs of dropping levels now that I’m in my mid 30’s, and have dedicated myself to getting back in shape. I’ll read up and possibly add DHT cream to my PE at that point and see what we see.

Any feedback on the effects of DHT in relation to adding lean mass, specifically when used with a long lasting injectable test ester?

To put it in the simplest terms I know to use:

Testosterone will certainly add lean mass, strength, and some water weight (from conversion to estrogen within the body). You will likely gain some fat as well, assuming you’re eating a lot.

DHT although chemically is both more androgenic and anabolic than testosterone, it is not so much reflected in terms of weight gain. An injectable DHT compound will add hardness and density to the muscle, but you will not see much increase in weight gain. DHT can also reduce the impact of estrogen, so you will likely have less water retention than with testosterone alone.

I hope this helps.

trips, here is my understanding, and why what you are considering may not work out for you.

If you are supplementing with steroids, you have to get your steroid level up over your normal level to see positive effects.

Unfortunately, your body will see that you have more steroids circulating than it is calling for, and shut down its own production. Now your body is completely dependent on the exogenous steroids.

You may gain during the period that the steroids are at supraphysiological levels. When you go off the steroids, there is the question about getting your own endocrine system to ramp up production again - and when it does, it’s only going to be back at the level it was before your cycle - which may not be enough to sustain/maintain your gains.

There are some threads here on how to boost your testosterone levels naturally which you may find of interest:

Just to let you guys know:

1) Skeletal muscles do not have receptors for DHT, so you will not gain any lean mass with DHT.

2) DHT is the main hormone involved with hairloss (MPB).

1) You will not gain lean mass, instead your muscles will become harder in appearance.
2) Recent studies show that estrogen too is likely to cause MPB.
