Another thread about blister prevention

I’m just curious, do people here who have gotten blisters find that the skin becomes more and more resistant to them over time? Right now I can get blisters with 5 lbs weight in Vac-Hanger with constriction sleeve on (45min set — admittedly little long but it’s only 5 lbs!).

The constant concern about blistering is a real drag. I would like to be able to go with this low-weight long-sets hanging protocol as a sort of approach to achieving both ADS and hanging without the trouble of doing both separately (ie a compromise for convenience). However, if I can’t rely on being able to do even 5 lbs without having to frequently disengage weights, remove hanger, remove sleeve, allow edema to go down, then reapply heat for a while, reapply constriction sleeve and hanger, etc. Over and over, the process becomes very tedious and inefficient time-wise.

So anyway, have people here generally found that their susceptibility to blistering goes down over time, or is it a constantly present worry? By the way, I have attempted several wrapping and/or taping of glans approaches and have basically decided that they are incompatible with using Vac-hanger when you are uncut, at least in my case.

I never get a blister hanging with the bib even at 4 times that weight, blisters seem to be a major problem with all the vacuum hangers. I wish I had some advice for you other than if you can’t find a fix for the blisters their are other hangers on the market that don’t give you them. Good luck:)

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

Maybe it’s just because I’m new to it, but it seems like being uncut is a big problem with hanging. I heard Vac hangers are the best for uncut, but without constriction sleeve they cause incredible swelling at frenulum and blisters at tip where the sleeve does not constrict well.

Anyway, for the time being, I feel that Vac hangers are still my best bet, but I need big improvement in this area of avoiding blisters.

Hi. I am uncut too, and I also use a vac hanger.

When I started, without the constriction sleeve, fluid build-up scared me, then I tried the sleeve. It worked a little better, but it keeps sliding, and I got a blister. That was really scary and painful. So, I don’t use sleeve anymore. I get fluid build-up, but it is better than a blister, and it doesn’t last more than 1 hour in my case.

05/2006 : 15cm BPEL X 12,5cm EG => 11/2006 : 17.5 cm BPEL X 13.5 cm EG => 5/2007 : 18 cm BPEL X 13.5 cm. 2 years later : shrank a bit : 17cm BPEL 01/2011

Really satisfied with my gains, but a little more flaccid would be nice. Would like to be a shower ;)

And most important : Girlfriend satisfied for about 3 years :)

I’m uncut too.

I find I am getting used to vac hanging, I am currently at 17 pounds 3x30 min a day.

I don’t use constriction sleeves but cotton wrap. You will find details in this thread:

Best way of hanging, some ideas

Do the two of you not get a huge amount of buildup on shaft right around frenulum? I do not see how it is possible to wrap there because it is in the area where uncut people have to have the suction seal occur. If I make seal further down shaft, it just slides away because the skin can move. However, if I try to make seal over wrap, air comes through. I have not been successful in getting glans wrapped well either. I tried following your “figure 8” description in the “best ways of hanging” thread but couldn’t get it to work for me. I’ll probably have to try again.

But without wrap, do people feel that the skin gets stronger to blisters anyway? If so, how much? It is hard for me to imagine ever doing more than 10lbs or so. Right now, all I can do is 5 lbs for about 30min. This is after about 6 weeks of experimenting.

Wrapping works best with a 80% erection. I pull back my foreskin and start wrapping around shaft/retracted foreskin a few rounds to fix the foreskin. Then I do a few rounds right behind the glans very tightly. Then crossing over the gland ‘x-es’. Finally a few rounds up and down. Very firmly. There must be enough naked skin for the sleeve to grip. I attach the sleeve with a few rounds of cotton wrap.

If you want to go to higher weights, reduce the time to 5 minutes in the beginning. Unwrap, jelq a little to remove fluid in the tissue (edema). Re.wrap and start again, A LITTLE LONGER: TAKE YOUR TIME TO condition your dick.

Ugh, what a pain in the ass. So much messing around!

So, on the subject of blisters themselves, I have a question for those of you who have gotten small ones: For how long have you found it is necessary to stop hanging? I got a very mild one that doesn’t hurt at all and didn’t pop. A couple days later a very thin scab seems to have formed in it’s place. Do I really need to wait for this thing to go completely away, and if so, how long have you guys generally found that it takes? I was just finally starting to get in a really good and consistent routine — perfect for gains — I hate to go back to square one again by taking a bunch of time off.

Fuckin’ avatar is driving me nuts. :)

You will have to condition as said above. It sounds like you may be one sensitive to the pressures, you will have to go a little slower to build up I guess. Drop you times down to 10-15 minutes each for a week or so and slowly increase.

So - if you think wrapping is too much of a mess, - let it be :)

But be aware of the fact that if you don’t let the blister heal completely you may develop a scar at that location which might become a weak point forever.

In summary: 1. Listen to Mr. Nine - change your avatar
2. Listen to Mr. Nine: go slow, even take a brake until it has healed completely.

There are lots of threads about blisters; I picked this one to revive at random.

Like many vac hangers, I have a problem with small blisters. After trying many different things, the one that seems to work the best:

1) put a single piece microfoam tape over the ureathra, making sure to cover the area where I get the most blisters
2) put a small amount of talc/baby powder in a silicone cap (available on ebay, search for “big toe silicone cap”), then stretch it over the end of my penis
3) put on the vac hanger.

When I use this approach, I notice:

1) skin is in fine shape when I stop; no hint of a new blister
2) how much weight and how long I hang is limited by fatigue, not by skin considerations (currently I do 45 min @12.5 lbs, multiple sets a day)

I found that any single approach (tape, talc, or silicone cap) wasn’t good enough. But combining all 3 seems to do the trick. My experience seems to be in line with recent advice from others.

Nice.
I’ve been getting blisters since I hit 10lbs, tried the micropore tape but still got them under it.
I’ve got some microfoam tape somewhere, I’ll try it.

You don’t find that the silicone cap can block the air hole ?

I do not hang (as yet) but have got blisters from using a VACextender and from pumping. Usually happened after pushing the envelope.

I have two observations.

1. After getting my first blister I believe it became EASIER to get more as the later ones all seemed to occur in the same part of my glans.

2. Baby powder on the glans has been very effective at preventing blisters. I wear it under a silicone glans protector (AKA as a toe protector). Believe the baby powder dries out the skin which apparently makes blister formation less likely.

Yes - it does block the air hole a little. But while I’m applying suction, I manually pull on the hanger. That causes the silicone cap to move away from the air hole, enabling the vacuum to remove a bit more air. After doing that several times, I get enough air out of the chamber to get a strong enough vacuum to hold the weight I’m using.
