Upper Bound Pressure for Pumping?

Upper Bound Pressure for Pumping?

So I started vacuum pumping these past 4 days.

I started pressure at 3 inHG and worked up to 4.4 inHG today for 10 minute sessions. No signs of edema or discoloration.

I’ve been reading various pumping related threads and it seems that 5 inHG seems to be the upper limit recommended by some.

I’m planning on going up to 5 inHG eventually, but I am curious if any veterans go past that without any edema/discoloration or loss in EQ?

Just like anything PE what one guy can do another guy finds it uncomfortable. 3inHg is uncomfortable for some, many find 5inHg acceptable. Going over 5inHg significantly increases the risk of injury. One guy may be able to do it while many others develop petechia, blisters, heavy edema and/or EQ issues, among other problems.

Do so at your own risk. Having said that, some very experienced veterans will go up to 8-10, others will use the surge method of increasing to a high vac level for a short period (30 seconds?) then reducing. Generally when they do this they have been pumping at lower levels for long periods and are trying to break through a plateau.

Initial: 7” BPEL; 6” NBPEL; 5.25” - 5.5” MEG

Current: 7-7/8” BPEL; 7-3/8” NBPEL; 8.5” BPFSL; 6.5” MEG; 6”x5” Flaccid.

Goal: Improved/consistent EQ while managing ED. Secondary: maintain current stats.

What he said. Low, slow and with heat (not unlike great BBQ) is the best, especially to start. It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. High pressure may look cool in the tube, but then you may get discoloration, red spots, certainly edema/doughnut…work up to any experimentation on short bursts of higher pressure. Plenty of threads here to read in the subject.
