The pistons contain a spring, which calibrates the tension the penis will be subject to.
When you wear the device correctly, the piston compression can range from fully compressed to fully relaxed, which determine max tension to no tension at all.
So using the correct number of rod extensions puts you in the correct range to make these springs work your penis. You want this to be able to apply and monitor tension.
If you extend your penis in the device but still the springs are applying no tension, the penis is being subject to negligible tension and in that case you can better wear a comfortable penis sleeve.
But you want to apply some tension to it, in the 600-1200 grams range, otherwise it wont give you any results.
Also penis wont harden. Fear not. In the end if you want to PE, you need to apply some tension in some direction . Looking at your penis produce no results. :)
