Rationale behind "don't change till stop growing"

Rationale behind "don't change till stop growing"

It’s widely said on these boards that one should stick to doing whatever regiment they are currently doing until they stop growing and only then do something else. Could someone please explain that rationale exactly. How did this theory come about? I’m not trying to be skeptical or anything, I completely believe it’s true. However, I like to know the rationale behind things rather than just obeying them as principles blindly.

Because it’s working so why mess with it.

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

vkn1,

If you have found a level of stress that gives you gains then keep doing the same thing (same weight, same time, same sets) because if you increase any one of these you may cause the tissues to strengthen quicker and inhibit gains overall. You would rather gain 1/16th of an inch every month for a year and not have any negative PI’s than gain 1/4 of an inch twice a year and experience negative PI’s every other week. My $0.02 worth. I would give my left nut(almost) to gain 1/16th of inch every month for the next 2 years.

That doesn’t like much of a rationale! For any given routine you might be doing, there’s almost certainly another one that would make you grow faster. Right? Also, it takes a lot of hours of wasted PE before it can be clear that you are not growing anymore.

It’s true Bro as time goes on in PE land the level of returns on your effort gets smaller and smaller so if your getting gains on a small investment of time and energy stick with it and ride it out because pretty soon you will most likely be putting in a lot of time and getting a very small return. If you don’t understand the logic in what we are saying than explain to me how one goes about knowing when one has picked the best routine.

Let’s say you have a race car and it’s running good. In fact, you have been winning every single race you have competed in. If this was the situation, would you tinker with the motor to see if you can eek out even more power when you run a high risk of making the motor run worse in the end?

Or, let’s say you are in the mountains on your cell phone. It took you a half hour to get reception. Now you found reception and you can communicate but it is fairly staticy. Would you risk losing that reception on a whim that you may find better reception somewhere else?

PE is a very fine balance. Many of us never find it and achieve very limited if any gains at all. So I think the rationale behind “don’t change till stop growing” is don’t get greedy and fuck up a good thing.

Gut Scramblin' goodness.

Problem is for newbies there are many contradictory theories and only anecdotal results. Someone always had success at *something*. Then posted it on Thunders for all to follow ;) I admit after reading Xenolith’s posts I’m seduced by his latest theory (or not so latest…) and would suggest some structured variation in your routine - trauma, ADS, rest. Perhaps the specific type of trauma does not matter as long as you make it heal in the expanded state. But then what do I know? Pick a guru, try it for a while and post nudie pics in the meantime.

Is that a real question?

The rationale is that it’s working, so keep doing what you’re doing. What other rationale do you need? I’m not trying to be a dick but that is not a rationale that you should be worried about.

Starting size: 7"x5.25" bp

Current size: 7.25"x5.875" bp

Goal size: 8.75"x6" bp

Revolution, that may very well apply perfectly for the real long-term or for seasoned veterans who have been doing it so long that it has resulted in a state of having tried a bunch of different approaches and being able to settle upon one that works well for that time being. What I am saying is that that approach must take a very long time since it can take months to determine whether or not any single regiment is working. Thus, maybe the average rate of growth at least for like first year of PE or something would be considerably lower than theoretically possible. But for these same people, why not try a good diversity of things in in order to more quickly find what works best before sticking with it and also to not have the lulls in between regiments where you have determined that not growing anymore? I mean just jelqing and stretching will make you grow for sure. But why not try throwing in horses, o-bends, etc even if the jelqing and stretching alone has stopped working? That way I imagine you could get considerably higher average rate of growth.

I guess I just wanted to know whether or not there was any particular reason why people always say to do this. There doesn’t seem to really be any physical one or anything though. I think since I have a certain goal (it’s a time that a girl I am crazy about coming to see me) about four months away, I am going to try to use somewhat riskier in terms of growth (not injury) but I think probably very probably higher rate of growth approach of not holding back from trying things I think will work even better only because what I am doing is still working.

If you’re trying to experience significant enough growth to make a noticeable difference to a girl in only 4 months, I’m not sure you are being realistic.

*I measure PRE-WORKOUT, normal erection* Started: 7 EBP x 4.9 EG. Several years on and off PE, now 8.125 EBP length x 5.5 EG midshaft (5.8 base). Working on girth (clamping) again after breaks due to injuries - fast recent gains! Pics

Very well said. That should be all the rational we need.
