Important Warmup Information

My quest for the perfect portable/private warmup continues…

I am one of the many college PEers who needs to find some means of warming up before wandering into the communal bathroom stalls. There are no microwaves nearby, or ways to boil water. I think I am about to give up and settle with a heating pad that I will use in my dorm, but before I do I will give it one last shot…

1.) Has anyone ever tried any sort of balm such as ben gay or icy-hot for the purpose of warming up? It seems like it would work except for some discomfort at first. I could probably get over discomfort and make a good excuse for the smell.

2.) Is it possible to use a Thera P band for warm up? Without any heat involved save that off your own body I was wondering if it would be possible to warmup using only this. I know some people use it afterwards to keep the flaccid penis stretched and circulating, but has anyone used it as a warmup?

3.) Manual exercises. I was a bit skeptic reading about manual exercises, shaking the penis and sack to circulate blood and loosen the tissue. Has anyone experimented with this and found it to be an adequate warmup? At any rate, it beats having no warmup at all. (I don’t know much about this area, as I doubt many PEers like myself do, so any info on this topic would be very helpful).

4.) Battery operated socks. Has anyone been successful with this? It seems ideal in that it is battery operated, small and dry, except for the fact that it might not get very warm. I haven’t found a single temperature listed under these socks.

If anyone has any wisdom on the above possibilities, that would be awesome, for both countless private PEers along with myself. Thanks

0. Boil water? You don’t want boiling water for any PE warmup.

1. Heat creams are skin irritants that contain menthol. The don’t do much actual heating, they irritate the skin which causes the blood vessels to dilate and cause a warm sensation. Not what you’re looking for.

2. I don’t see how reducing the circulation to your penis, which is what a constricting band does, would create any kind of heat.

3. Since you’re looking to actually heat the structures before doing any exercise, manual or otherwise, this isn’t your solution.

4. There are pocket hand warmers which would probably be a better choice. See below.

What you want to do with a warm up is apply heat to the area that will get the workout. Mostly this is the ligaments which attach at the base of the penis and the erectile chambers of the shaft. Why not a hot water bottle. You can fill it up at any sink with the hottest water available and apply it in your room before going to the place where you do your exercises. Sitting at a desk in your underwear or swim trunks with the hot water bottle in your lap shouldn’t be too obvious, especially if you cover it with a T-shirt or towel. Five minutes of heat to the base and shaft is all you need. The hot water should be hot enough to penetrate a couple layers of cloth. The electric hand warmer or socks would work, but might require application directly to your unit (I don’t know how hot they get.).

Thanks for the help Westla,

0.) I have no place to boil water. (For the purpose of button activated crystallized heat packs)

1.) The balms. Isn’t the blood vessel dilation a short cut to the affects of a heating unit? I thought that was the point of heating, although I am a newbie where as you are a moderator, so I could be far off.

2.) That’s what I figured. But hell, those neodymium magnets may do some unexpected magic. I was just curious.

3.) Some members have tried this and I am looking for more information on the topic. It seems as if it would be like stretching before working out (as in weightlifting). Because you can get away with stretching without warming up in weightlifting, although it is not preferable.

4.) As for the pocket warmers and battery operated socks, the point was to take that into the stall with me. This would be applied directly to the base of the penis itself. Anyone ever tried this?

The hot water bottle. I can’t believe I forgot that. That’s another great idea I forgot to mention, thanks for pointing that out.
Also, Westla, you said you only needed to heat the base ligs? I’ve heard from others that you needed to heat up the shaft and head as well, to make sure you don’t get spots. I’ve also read posts declaring that you must heat under the testicles to warm up the inner penis almost to your butt. Thanks again. More help/experience is welcome.

The dilation would be a response to percieved heat, but actual heat would be the desired input. Much like the way menthol or peppers produce a response on the tongue; though it may encourage dilation or constriction, the temp will not be above body temp.

Adding some heat can reduce stiffness, and if you feel that will benefit you then go right ahead. If you’re looking for the magic zone for heat then there is a specific window (around 40-45C from memory) that allows limited plastic deformation with reduced damage. Any gains you get that are not in this window will be the good old fashioned micro-tear/repair variety. Be careful with the heating thing though as the temp required for protein denauturing is not much higher, and this will have the exact opposite effect to what you’re looking for.

0. You don’t need to boil water.

1. The purpose of the warmup is not to increase circulation, that’s just a side benefit. The purpose is to actually get the ligaments and erectile chambers warmer than normal body temperature. This is supposed to allow them to stretch easier.

2. Magnet magic. Some believe, some don’t. I don’t.

3. In a warmup prior to weight training you are trying to avoid injury by stretching the muscles and increasing circulation to them. You are not trying to make them physically get hotter. In a PE warmup you are trying to get the structures physically hotter. Doing manual stretches as a warmup will not make the ligs and tunica warmer.

4. I know little about the pocket warmers. I’m sure they’d work and may be an easier thing to handle (and smaller) than the hot water bottle.

Some guys don’t do warmups. They don’t think they’re necessary. I personally believe it’s a good idea, if you can do it. In your situation it might not be possible. See what you can figure out and if it doesn’t work out that you can “pre-heat” then don’t worry about it and just do the exercises. That, in the end, will be more important than a warmup.
