one on one help?

Hey guys, if you haven’t noticed I’ve been gone for a while, because I thought I wasn’t ready for PE (not enough privacy, etc. etc.) but now I think I finally want to start my gains. I spent hours and hours on TP to make sure I’m ready but there’s always a couple things I can’t find so instead of making a new thread for all of them is there anyway that us newbies can speak to a PE “pro” directly? I know there are plenty of messenger services out there (AIM/MSN/Yahoo) and theres always e-mail. I was even wondering if TP ever considered a chat room on the website where members can interact with each other directly.

Anyways, even without the chat or whatever this site is one of the best i’ve ever seen in regards to people wanting to help other people while getting nothing in return other then a thank you (What’s up with all these newbies not even thanking the people who help them?).

Thanks,
Helpmeeeeeeeeeee

If you’ve been reading TP for hours, I’m surprised you haven’t come across the chat room or the mentoring option. For one on one help, click on this link: Mentor Request, Guidelines and Questionnaire.

They’ll hook you up with a mentor. Or, if you’ve read enough threads and found someone who sounds knowledgeable and makes sense to you, send them a PM for some input. I find the vets—esp. those who are actively posting—are willing to answer questions or point you in the direction to find answers, particularly if you’ve already done some searching on your own.

Listen to Josh.

The Mentor Program is alive and well. A lot of us vets participate in it. There’s a short questionaire which helps the guys who run the program to pair you up with someone with experience in the type of PE that interests you - if you are only into manual exercises, best not to be paired with a hanger or a pumper, for example - and if you have a special problem (like ED) and would rather not discuss it out here, there are folks who can give you guidance in that. It’s all private.

The trend nowadays is to have personal trainers for physical fitness….hmm, personal PE trainer? Interesting idea for a new business!

I’ve been humbled and grateful that this is not a business, they’re not into it for money or prurient interests. You were not suggesting they do make it a business; I’m just saying I’m glad they don’t. To me, it underscores the integrity of Thunder and moderators here. Even the “commercial members” are up front about their possible alterior motives; they’re not trying to hide anything from you.

Reading the threads and seeing the tutorials has been an enormous help to me. However, the mentoring program has been invaluable in custom designing a program that works for me. I’m anxious to get enough experience under my belt to be able to help someone else. The mentoring program is awesome.
