Sorry to hear about your injury, but then I think the answer is then clear. An extender creates considerable pressre to both corpus right behind the glans. Therefore, I’d say it is in the moment not the best idea to wear it.
A light intensity version of the Newbie routine, starting at very short duration (5mins) with a real slow gradual build-up could be the way to go. A maximum increase of another 5 minutes every 3 or 4 weeks seem reasonable to me.
I have made very good experiences with jelqing at very low erection levels - it seems to be beneficial for length gains. And the grip for the stretching can be quite light too, not going to the maximum of extension capacity. Maybe 80% of the stretching limit, not more. Give your urethra some time to adopt to the exercises.
You can make considerable and durable gains with “just” the Newbie Routine - only it may take some more time. But in my humble opinion going safe is more important than going fast.
