Hi Pezzonovante
Sound good and maybe I join the "do some cardio" choir. Just as an idea: https://en.wiki … ki/Loaded_march Some more details are here : Rucking: What It Is and How to Do It | StrongFirst (ok this all reads terribly military/survival style, but it’s about the exercise, not the ideology or lifestyle behind) Can be done on a daily base, even during commuting to and from work. Start slow, but do it on a regular base. But respect the advice to purchase some serious good gear and shoes to do so - it’s worth it.
I do it since I’m 16 - and had various peaks of commitment. You can do it for loosing weight, getting fit, remaining fit or just for fun and for getting out in the green. It even works in the city - just need excellent shoes and probably some dampening soles for walking on hard surfaces. Actually my rucking routine is every second day 10kms, once a bit slower (training with a still untrained friend) and once for speed. As I am pretty experienced, I started with 20kgs in the rucksack which is light for me but too heavy for most beginners. After 3 weeks, I upgraded to 25kgs, and will upgrade 5kgs every month until I reach 40kgs. although I am a smoker, my fitness comes back very quickly. The goal for the winter season (I do it all year round independent of weather conditions) is to get in a 5x10km plus 1x25km schedule per week.
Yes, it’s intense as exercise and you certainly need a shower after training :-) But it’s one of the most efficient and simplest way of getting in great shape. That’s what our body has been built for.
Get out and WALK! :-)
