Help needed with the Captn's Wrench

I have some issues with the wrench I made. For rubber grippers all I could find is circle ones. This means with a 1 1/2 inch diameter I could have a 1 inch wide by 1 1/2 inch tall with a rounded top and bottom. This is smaller than the velcro strip so a bit of my glands get pulled into the velcro. I could either cut the strap smaller or have a 1x2 inch that is cut in have (made from two pieces). So what do you think would it matter much having the whole device thinner? Would the two-piece grippers cause any probs? What would you do? Thanks

Necessity is the mother of invention. Improvise and do the best with what you have. I would make adjustments so that Velcro glans interference doesn’t happen. Other then that, put it together with what you got and after you try it out, make adjustments as necessary.

Thanks guys. What would be a good weight to start with. I know I’ll have figure it out for my own comfort level, but that first weight is scaring me a little. So if you could tell me what weight you started at that will give me something to go off of. Thanks again.
