Everything in history is exactly the opposite. Act first, do the thing, them figure out why and how it worked.

Science is the lens that we place on our anecdotes, but you need the damn anecdote first.

We are solidly in the anecdote phase of PE right now. A bunch of guys have bubbled up on the miracle of the internet and are seeing results using methods and sharing all they can. One day some PhD candidate who is willing to take risks might drink from the pool of anecdotal knowledge generated here and filter it with some science.
