The clamp in the picture would be considered a low quality item - the screw track is just impressed into the metal instead of cut all the way through.
32quarters mentioned the problem of a clamp stripping out and being hard to remove. If that happens, it’s not like the Emergency Room doctors have some magic tool to remove it; they’ll probably wind up using an abrasive cutoff tool (if they have one available!), and stainless steel is notoriously difficult to grind. You’ll wind up with burns and a slot cut into your penis at best. At worst, they’ll try bolt cutters, and those don’t work particularly well on hose clamps. I’ve tried that myself, trying to get them off cars when they were stripped out.
There’s a secondary problem as well - it’s hard to clamp a “cable clamp” too tightly to damage your penis quickly. Due to the non-round shape, some blood still circulates, even when painfully tight. But it is *very* easy to just keep turning the screw on a hose clamp and tighten it until you completely shut off blood flow, or as close as makes no difference. You can completely shut off blood flow long before the screw starts to feel tight.
Most people are interested in the hose clamps because they’re much easier to obtain, and usually much cheaper than the plastic cable clamps. Even in America where I am they aren’t widely available; I wound up paying the equivalent of 13 euros for one with shipping because none were for sale in my area. But if you’re new to clamping, I recommend saving your money and waiting until you can afford a cable clamp.
