Soy Debate Experiment

I’ve often thought about having my testosterone levels checked, just to have a frame of reference for as I get older. I had this physical therapist who was working on me once for a shoulder injury ask if I had ever done steroids. When I told him, no, he said I must have “really high” testosterone levels. Well, in recent years, I’ve noticed a change in my body — not quite as much energy, a once-raging sex drive becoming more cyclical, more difficulty adding or sustaining muscle mass, more fat accumulation, etc. Most people would look at my physique and say, “What the hell are you talking about!” But five years ago I was much more lean and had about 10 more lbs of muscle on my body. I attributed these changes, of course, to aging (I’m pushing 40). But now I’m beginning to suspect that there may be something to this soy effect that has counteracted my testosterone production to a noticeable degree. For the past five years or so, as I mentioned above, I’ve consumed pretty large quantities of soy on a daily basis.

I’m nearly two weeks into the experiment and the differences I noticed after first cutting out soy — more frequent involuntary erections, waking up with raging hardons at night, more intense gym and PE workouts, more energy, less moodiness (but more aggressiveness, unfortunately for Mrs. Brianrex, lol) — are still there. If this is some kind of placebo effect, it has lasted longer than I would have expected. A real test, I guess, will be if I increase my muscle mass relative to my bodyfat during this period absent any other changes in routine or diet (other than the elimination of soy). I’ll keep you updated…

The following is a very common malady of ageing. However I’m not saying this is happening to you. But you could possibly be right about declining testosterone levels. This happens to every male it is a Satanic right of passage, but it can be prevented.

You can regain some of that leaness back if not all of it. There are herbs that can boost testosterone, I take them all the time. I did an about face coming down with diabetes back in 1998, left me with complete ED. I also started blubbering up, I later discovered that lower testosterone levels indcated a rise in insulin. Insulin makes you fat an flabby when too much is floating around in your blood stream. Then when the pancreas begins to fail type two diabetes shows up. That is what happen to me. It just so happen that the natural hypoglycemics that god put on this earth for everyone to use also raises testosterone levels They are as follows

Vitemin “C”
Zinc
Ginko biloba
Capsasium - Better circulation
Garlic/onions - Primarily to declog arteries and promote better circulation
The entire Gensing family
Green tea - Fat burner by elevating metabolism.
Black tea - Not as strong as green tea
Chromium picolinate - elevates testosterone lowers need for insulin and is a hypoglycemic, precurser to growth hormone, blocks glycation
Magnesium - Lowers blood sugar, promotes bone formation increases physical endurance
Biotin - Lowers blood sugar
Apple cider venigar - does everything re-acidifies stomach restoring PH balance - lowers blood sugar.
Gymnema Sylvestre - repairs beta cells, lowers blood sugar
Omega three fatty acids - promotes muscle recovery, improves memory function, lowers blood sugar
Glutamine - Precurser to growth hormone
Yohimbe - unstable unless take with ginger
Daimaina - irratant promote erections
Horny goat weed
The list goes on

I’m pushing 44, and the above substances with lots of prayers and God seeking restored my life from the brink of death, I was hospitalized twice do to nephrotoxicity r/t nuerontin, polymycin and keflex these are comommonly precsribed medications

Estrogenics: the substances to stay away from are as follows.
Beer More than two cans a day is estrogenic
Pain killers
Asperin - N saids lower thyroid function which lowers testosteron
Tylenol
Ibuprofin
Blood presure medication - Lowers testosterone levels and eventually life span
Anti ddepresants - Loweres sex drive by lowering testosterone and thyroid function
Antihistamines - If you are an allergy sufferer like myself swithch over to fever few or feenugreek. Lowers thyroid function
More than 800iu of vitemin “E”
And perhaps soy

Thanks, Kingpole, this certainly puts things in perspective for me. I’ll have stay away from the things on the second list and try to incorporate more of the things on the first list into my diet. I appreciate the tips!

Thanx, your an insperation to me man.

Go easy on Yohimbe, it can really raise your blood pressure and give you the jitters, especially if taking it as a regular supplement rather than a booster before having sex.

Kingpole where did you come across information that Yohimbe raises testosterone?

You can take as many herbs as you want, but none of them will benefit you in the long-run. Your best bet is to do what you’ve been doing all along: live a healthful lifestyle including resistance exercise, a little cardio, healthful eating, adequate rest, and stress management.

1-Month Update: It’s been nearly a month since I quit soy cold turkey. I must say that I have noticed what seems like a solid effect. I’m still having more and firmer erections. I also think I might be leaning down just a bit, and I’ve definitely been less moody (less “bitchy,” lol). The real test will be to see if I can add more muscle longterm. I probably would have achieved more muscle if I hadn’t caught a stomach virus last week that led to me losing about five lbs. I’m definitely gonna keep this up for a while!

When you get older you need a little herbal help.

Why use ineffective and possible harmful herbs when you could simply do HRT? It’s guaranteed to work and the possible side-effects are all known. No lead, E. Coli, or medicinal contraindications to worry about either.

I love GOLD

The side effects are all known, but that doesn’t mean the side effects are all good.

You are looking toight today, Goldmember. :)

Werd, stress management. I wonder about the soy. First, it was the best thing in the world. Now, it’s bad for you?

Remember eggs? They are good. No, they’re bad. No, they’re good, but don’t eat the yolk. WTF? Here’s what I do. Whatever the media says, I do the exact opposite.

I’ve been drinking soy protein shakes for a while and they didn’t affect me at all. That is until I read this thread :D .

Just kidding, it should be interesting to see the results. However, how does one tell about the psychological aspects of the test? To be accurate there should be a control group :D

Joking again. Anyhow it should be interesting. But what I’m saying is take these studies with a grain of salt. Just don’t OD on soy. And gold_member has the best advice of all. STRESS MANAGEMENT.

Stress will do far far more damage than any pill, soy, whatever. Science is not ready to admit this, but they will. Google up a video by Bruce Lipton, the biology of belief. He’s a scientist that does cloning and the like. He’s discovered that our perceptions and beliefs have more of an effect on our bodies at a cellular level than ANYTHING. However the medical establishment wont hear this. Othewise people would have to take responsibility for their own health instead of going to the local guesser to get a bandaid in the form of a bottle of pills.

That’s my shameless rant.

Good luck with the Experiment

Pharmacueticals nearly killed me. First it was the hypoglycemics, gthe gliberide, the metaformin, then the lantis, the neurontin, the polymicin, the keflex. They all make you fat, dizzy, nauseated, and they made my ED worse, made my dic k shrink to, belly got bigger dick got smaller, Ed got worse. And still for all my efforts to control diabetes type two with these drugs it still remainded above 300.

I went blind, had to have 21 lazer surgeries and two vetrectomies. The keflex nearly shut down my kidneys. The keflex caused anemia, hypercalcemia, restless leg syndrome, congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, a yeast infection.
I corrected the mistake for the most part with Apple cider venigar, Gensings, gymnema, vitemins, magnesium, candida cleanse and liver cleanse. My skin was green. I went from 184 pounds to 163 and that was a muscle weight loss not fat.

I use to get flu’s and cold regularly but due to the gensings I haven’t got as much as a single cold in 06/07.

Awesome man. You should get a ****ing gold medal for your work on yourself. I absolutely HATE the medical establishment. Everybody hear me? HATE. Seriously though, for each person that wakes the **** up and takes responsibility for their own health, it’s one more person that has checked out of the SYSTEM permanently.

It’s the same with the mental health spectrum. I can’t wait for the day that all these a*****es don’t have jobs. I wasted 10 years of my life with psychologists and pills. Want to know how I fixed myself? Read my post on here about it. I’m telling you man, I was on every med there is.
