My testosterone results

I’ve always had a bit of trouble with libido and depression, or atleast I assumed I did. It was probably a mix of a genuine problem and unrealistic expectations, but anyway. I thought it may stem from low testosterone.

I got tested, and the result is in the normal range. Normal is 8 - 38 nmol/L, and I got 30.3. This is higher than I thought, especially since I have been drinking a lot and havent exercised in about 2 years. I was extremely atheltic as a teen though. I’m 21 now.

Do these levels seem optimal? Just want some opinions on the results, because it seems my problems don’t stem from a lack of testosterone like I thought.

Useful post. Nowadays (but maybe it’s always been around) there is such a predisposition to believe that near any issues can be fixed with some exogenous, easy-to-take, aid.

In your case it was testosterone; some others believes it can be a personal coach, a guru, HGH, an herbal remedy and so on.

To my cynics eyes, those are short-cuts; ones you do believe that something chemical can be the answer for your lack of motivation, you’re fucked. An addiction will born - more precisely, a kind of addiction is already there. You are saying to yourself: “I can’t do this job without some kind of help” so “I’m a loser”.

I know it sounds rude and rough, but, please, try to understand my inner point, I’m not good in the English language.

In your personal case, Yaga, yours issues with alchool and the lack of physical activity are two of the causes of your issues, I think. I suspect that others causes are concurring, maybe you’re not good with your parents/friends/job..you are the only one who can know for sure. Try to do a calm analysis to discover these causes, and then ask around for some advises.

Yatagan,

Most people find that with increase in physical activity and diet, will increase test all by itself.

It usually takes about 3 weeks to notice the difference.

Yes, I started doing weights after a few years hiatus and within about 3 weeks I could literally feel the difference. It was great and I don’t intend on losing it now.

Currently 6.5 NBP 5.5EG.

Thanks. Yeah, more testosterone can only be good. Kind of frustrating though that my levels seem to be fine, if not above average. Guess it’s all in my head, and unfortuantly the mental problems are the hardest to fix.

I agree with your surmations marinera

My testosterone levels are in the “mid” range and I have absolutely 0 libido. If there was such a thing as -0 that would be my libido.

You might have high prolactin, or not enough of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Or it could be something else like high estradiol, low thyroid hormones, too high parathyroid hormone, or low histamine.

PP - how to fix those? What are some side effects other than decreased libido?

Please, avoid doing clinical speculations - they require both a) being a Physician; b) a direct examination of the patient. If the personal Doc of Yaga wants to become a member here and want to esplicate what’s the issues of Yaga are, he’s welcome.

I agree with Marinera.

Lazy people will do anything to fix there problems - anything except try that is. As long as it comes in a convenient pill and requires zero effort then it must be the solution.

My whole country is addicted to one thing or another. They start pumping kids full of all kinds of shit at age 14 and wonder why they grow to be fucked up.

ADD and ADHD are just labels applied to children who are different. GOD FUCKING FORBID they embrace them for their differences and develop a different teaching strategy, that would be way too much work, so they pump them full of shit until they are nice little robots.

Same for depression. People think they are depressed, when really they are just lazy, and then they pump themselves full of shit to feel better, and cant handle the feeling of coming back down to earth, so they develop an addiction.

Im not saying that this is applicable across the board - plenty of people benefit greatly from the existence of drugs - im just saying that we are way too dependent on the easy-way-out.

Have you tried TRYING? You have zero libido and feel like shit? Quit drinking all the time, excercise, eat right, don’t smoke, try yoga, try meditation, do something constructive, paint, read, do ANYTHING other than sit and dwell and bitch about your problems. Don’t feel like trying? Try anyway. Make yourself try. Develop a little willpower. Become a stronger, smarter, more balanced human being using the power of your own mind rather than being dependent on some drug.

Cheers,
Whiskey

Starting (10 / 2006): 5.8~BPEL, 5~BG ----> Current: 7.6 BPEL, 5.6 BG ----> Goal: Pringles Can

Yeah, get tests done. Then try to fix any lifestyle factors. Then if they don’t work, resort to supplements/medicine.

I wipe testosterone cream on my inner thighs every morning. I told the doctor a year ago that I felt my libido seemed weak. She did some blood tests and had me go to an endocrinologist to have it checked further. They said it was real low. Sorry, I don’t remember the numbers. They thought something else was causing my testosterone to be so low. I am 50 now and have worked out 2 to 3 times per week since I was 25. I work out with machines and free weights. My wife calls me a workout freak. So, the whole increasing testosterone through working out didn’t work for me. Since I’ve been using the cream my libido is great.

Tanner, yes me too! All the try this and that is and bunch of you know what! You reach a certain age and it happens, its gone. The Test cream works and restores what you once had. I’d screw a hand full of worms when I was younger as long as they were movin. When you get old and you’re with the same woman for so long shit changes. So all I can say is exercise this, i’ll listen to the doctors. I believe they have a little better training and knowledge!

What do you mean ‘tried trying’. I didn’t go to the doctor to get a prescription, if the results had come back as low I would have raised my test through natural means. That was the easy way - I had hoped there was an organic problem, which could be fixed through effort.

There’s not, it’s more than likely mental, which cannot be fixed via effort which is why I’m kind of at a cross roads.

Noones bitching mate, I just posted to have someone evaluate my testosterone levels and give their opinion on whether they think they are optimal or not. Where did I mention using drugs for a quick fix? I can see you’re on a roll with that post, but next time evaluate the context of the OP and spout your condescending bullshit where it’s atleast relevant.

High prolactin - cabergoline
Low dopamine - pharmaceutical grade fish oil, l-tyrosine, pycnogenol, or pyridoxine (vitamin b6)
High estradiol - don’t know
Low thyroid hormones - maybe l-tyrosine
Too high parathyroid hormone - 3000iu vitamin D3 in oil + 1g calcium
Low histamine - niacin or inosine

I’m not sayng these would actually work for anyone. They’re just things that I am trying.
