I buy from macaweb.com. I take 1 tsp of the raw powder in the morning. If you take too much, it may screw up your sleep, at least in my experience.
I used the gelatinized powder from Navitas Naturals, and it has been my favorite for consistent quality for about two years. I do not notice it effecting my sleep, but I usually take it in the morning. I have never had any bad response to it. I normally take about 1 tablespoon per day, on a 4 day on/3 days off cycle.
I ordered some maca from 1fast400.com and I don’t think it’s the real stuff anymore. I’ve only ordered one container, but I noticed it doesn’t work anything like the stuff I ordered from GNC. I have had no effects like mentioned in the reviews. I don’t think I will buy from 1fast400 anymore. I am going to try that gelatenized form from rootofthematter.com.
Seems to me the more bogus it tastes the better quality. I ordered 1 lb from imperial gold maca. I can’t tell anything yet as I’m coming off of two weeks of vicodins so I’m not feeling hot right now. I’ll report back any effects later. It seems that you should take 1 tsp of this stuff. So far 2 doses in 2 days and I notice nothing.

I am taking 10 grams of this Maca from 1fast400.com. When I was taking the pills from GNC, they only contained 1000mg of Maca, and it felt like my dick was going to explode when I took them. I don’t think the 1fast400.com stuff is high quality anymore. The GNC pills also looked brown in color; The 1fast400.com powder has a creamy color to it. The GNC pills were also putrid in taste. If I didn’t swallow them immediately and drank water, I would almost puke from the taste and how bitter they were. This powder stuff doesn’t taste all that bad. I can actually drink it in normal water up to 10 grams of it and not almost puke. I can drink it like it’s regular tea with no sugar.
It shouldn’t taste so bitter. The root itself (if it is good quality) has a slightly sweet taste underlying it, and the color should be a lighter, almost golden brown.
I take a teaspoon or two in my juice of a powder that contains sarsaparilla, saw palmetto, tribulus, maca, ginseng and liquorice. When I first took it I got the tingles in my chest and arms and a feeling of slight invincibility then it waned over time. I have wanted to increase the dose but haven’t yet as I am worried of the side affects. Next bag I buy I want to get pure maca and test that out.
