Does L-Arginine work?

Disclaimer: Post is for entertainment purposes only. Zero liability past, present, future. Exercising and weight lifting probably is doing more than anything. Basically BCAA or branch chain amino acids and occasional protein shake or supplement. Read something about taking vitamin C and garlic at the same time. Horse chestnut was mentioned too. Just started both and they seem to be helping.

If you still hang out here once in a while, I would like to follow up with your experience with L-Argonine (sp?) since you started taking it last year.

I am a senior too and almost as old as you are

My problem is that a I am a 30 year old trapped in body of a Boomer.

I feel great, have a full head of hair, all of my original teeth and I work out at the gym 5X per week (hard work work outs-not puttering around like a lot of seniors do), but I do suffer from ED.

Your input would be much appreciated .

Thanks,

Hey, Amerikanisch — I started taking 2-1000mg tablets (2000 mg=2gm/day) in May, 2018, & logging daily to see if it would affect EQ (erectile quality) about which this site says morning woods (MW) are a good indicator … and which for several years were mostly lacking for me. Starting with 2gm/day I got MWs within a few days. I’ve also tried other amounts for a couple weeks at a time to see if there’d be any affect. 4gm/day didn’t make any noticeable difference, & 1gm/day seems to work, too, so I’ve mostly stayed with 1gm/day. Statistically, I can’t correlate my MW experience with taking arginine, BUT - scanning the results on my spreadsheet, it looks like NOT taking arginine for periods of up to 2 weeks can result in fewer MWs, but on the other hand, NOT taking it for a couple weeks didn’t always result in fewer MWs. At this point I’m on & off; if MWs are missing, I take arginine for a couple weeks & the MWs return; then I stop using arginine for awhile ‘til the MWs taper off. Bottom line, I think L-Arginine helps my over-all EQ … but the thing that really makes a difference with my ED (longer lasting, harder erections) is sildenafil (Viagra). Hope this helps!

Using arginine will not replace viagra, but it certainly is an erection aid. I recommend a citrulline and arginine combo. Citrulline is better for long-term effects as it is used to produce arginine anyway.
Not to be used everyday. The body needs to produce its own NO.
I take it in the morning, on an empty stomach, on days when I’m looking to get lucky.

* In fact, L-citrulline increases levels of L-arginine in your body more than supplementing with L-arginine itself does.

With anything it really depends on the individual and the way your body tolerates it. Some people are sensitive to it, but some people get very little out of it. You just have to try it for a few weeks and see what it does for you. Regardless just remember that if you do start taking it daily and come to a point where you stop taking it you’ll lose its results pretty quickly. You can eat foods that are high in arginine and the effects will be as good, and save you a little money.

Arginine

Does it do more taken pre or post Jelq routine? Or isn’t there difference?

Are their any Nutritionist around here? Biochemistry is still in its infancy after 100 years or so. We don’t even know the full extent of each pathway. We have good knowledge, but the next step is in quantum chemistry and that needs those quantum computers up and and computing values.

Point is, be careful with adding chemicals to your body, especially more than one at a time. Synergies can cause an unwanted cascade effect.

I have been taking “l-arginine pro” for a little while now and have definitely noticed an improvement in erection quality. Over the years I’ve tried several l-arginine supplements and this one is the first one I noticed a significant improvement in EQ, as well as my penis feeling and looking “fuller” flaccid too do to the improved blood flow. The supplement I take has 5,500 mg of l-arginine and 1,100 mg of l-citrulline per serving. I take it twice a day, morning and evening, for a total of 11g l-arginine and 2.2g of l-citrulline a day.

Here are the nutrition facts of the powder: INGREDIENTS IN L-ARGININE PRO - L Arginine Pro

It doesn’t taste too bad in my opinion either.

I won’t know for sure until I cycle on an off it a few times, but I had something interesting happen when I started taking L-Arginine two weeks ago. At 60, I am now in the age group when bowel movements tend to be lengthy and uncomfortable, even when recently on meds where “gastric distress” is a common side effect.

After a couple of days taking one 500mg L-Arginine per day, I sit down, relax, ploop!, and I’m done. Thirty seconds from pants-down to pants-up. That is nothing short of amazing.

Flip side, despite the common claims that L-Arginine can lower blood pressure, mine jumped 10 points the day after I started taking it, and has not returned to normal. I log my blood pressure morning, afternoon, and bedtime, and have for years, so I have a pretty good idea of how it varies.

I’ll keep taking the pills for another week or two, then see if things go back to normal.

No change in morning wood or EQ so far.

Two and half months later: L-Argenine likely wasn’t the cause of the BP jump, which has remained steady despite cycling on and off every couple of weeks.

The first couple of times I was on, I didn’t notice any particular change on morning wood. After a few cycles my logs started showing an effect; a couple of days in, I’d go from “none” to “occasionally 25% or 50%”, keeping at least a softie up while Kegeling was much easier, and maybe once a week I’d get an actual boner without any particular effort. This has been quite welcome. I had put working on ED at the end of the to do list, since there actually is “a pill for that”.

Anyway, across several cycles, some settling may occur during shipment, your mileage may vary, not redeemable with any other offer, void where prohibited, L-Argenine is cheap, has no untoward side effects, and helps *some*.

I’ve been taking L’Arginine via a mix called Tri-Amino (L-Arginine HCl / L-Citruline / L-Ornithine 100/100/100 mg/mL) at what looks like 100mg/mL, in which case I inject myself with 1mL per day.

Looking at the doses here, which also made me check online. At 100mg per 1 mL, and I inject 1 mL, am I correct in that I’m only dosing 100mg each day?

If so, it looks like I’m wasting money.

MD told me that I could supplement the injections. But because the injections are pure and direct to the muscle, the lower dose is more potent than the tablet that your body has to digest.

I used to take l-arginine and then later on l-citrulline pills when I first started, they would improve blood flow noticeably at first but in a couple weeks they would become useless. I guess I built up tolerance to them very quickly, it would probably more effective to cycle it.
