No idea when to start back up.

I was PEing in early December but started getting a constant dull ache near the base of my shaft on the left side. I’ve stayed away from any sort of PE activity for about a month and a half. I want to make sure I’m healed enough before starting back up because I don’t want a set back. How will I know if I’m ok? What is an appropriate amount of time off to recover?
