Any thoughts on fasting?

Any thoughts on fasting?

Hi all. I am now three and a half weeks into what I, through reading dozens of threads here and elsewhere, believe to be a nerve damage type of injury. That’s with little to no improvements.

My symptoms will sound familiar to some of you.

Initially a rubbery, spongey feeling in my shaft and glans.

A reduction in feeling, like my penis is not part of me any more. This is profoundly affecting on my levels, it has made me understand just how complex and interconnected the human system is, life just seems a bit pointless, a bit meh.

Reduced libido.

I do not get much of the hard flaccid some describe, but my flaccid is shrunken and shriveled and cold, so very cold.

I masturbate twice a week, it takes two/three days before I can get an erection.

Morning wood has actually gotten worse over the last few weeks.

Long story short my googling led me to fasting, both intermittent and prolonged. I’ve read of extreme boosting and acceleration of the body’s self healing mechanisms.
There is more to this than fat loss and getting a handle on hunger.. If you google things like;

Fasting and stem cells.
Fasting and mitachondria.
Fasting and Nerve Growth Factor (NGF)
Fasting Testosterone
Fasting and HGH.
Fasting and the immune system.

You find some fascinating stuff. I am not a medic and admit I don’t understand everything I am reading here, it also seems to be early days for fasting research and the jury is still out so to speak. But there is enough here to give us hope I think?

Anyways. I am going to try a quite radical protocol of 20:4 intermittent fasting with a four day fast once a month. Will keep you posted on any improvements/changes.
I will also be taking PQQ, CoE Q10. Multivit. And making big improvements to my nutrition.
Exercising a lot more.
Taking a long hot bath everyday instead of showering.
I might also look into going to a yoga class in case this is pelvic floor related.
Please chime in if anyone has tried this.

Hang in there, I went through everything you described. 9 months have passed now and it is significantly better but still not 100% healed. I have also wondered whether fasting could improve this condition so keep us updated.

When exactly did this occur? Was it gradually over time or immediately after an event? Can you tell us about that?

Best wishes my friend.

Interesting idea and its impact on PE.

For the last four weeks, I’ve modified to eating one meal per day with an additional snacking zone up to ~ 1 hour after that meal, which I guess is roughly 22-2 window.

I’m about 90% successful, as I may have a work breakfast or lunch, but I’m getting better at not booking those or making those my only meal of the day.

I believe I read LE say the other day that he also does a 22:2 window, but I could be wrong.

Best of luck on your fasting and recovery.

As long as you are getting all of the nutrients and vitamins your body needs while intermittent fasting it can actually be very beneficial (though any benefit in terms of pe will be negligible at best and actually slow any kinds of gains at worst).

If you want you body to heal fast to grow your penis faster I would recommend a HIT workout plan that hits all major muscle groups throughout the week, if you don’t want a high intensity workout then do cardio on top of weight lifting 2-3 days a week, eat clean and eat often, intermittent fast 1 day a week, take vitamins.

Just a side note on fasting. When in my twenties, worked a year with an interesting fellow who’d retired out of the merchant marine. During WWII he was captured by the Japanese, and spent five years in a Chinese mainland prison camp under horrific conditions. He’d only gotten one small meal a day over those five years. Having grown accustom to that, over thirty years after the war he was still eating only one meal a day. He was in excellent shape, and I thought it so interesting that he’d maintained eating just once per day.

I do IF, have been for years. I do a standard 16-8.

Ensure your getting all your nutrients, that is more important then when you eat. Quality Whole Foods as much as possible.

If your gonna go straight to a 20:4 plus a 4 day fast a month and start ramping up your exercise routine, you definitely will need to be on point with nutrition. How’s your body fat right now? If your low in BF I would suggest a slight caloric surplus with the regimen you speak of. If your actually wanting to lose fat, then a slight deficit plus considering a regimen of only lifting 3 times a week. You can only lose so much fat at a time while also maintaining muscle and gaining strength/small amount of muscle at the same time.

On a side note, fasting is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in life.

OK. An update. When I was working my way through the injury threads last year I came across a lot of people who just disappeared, never updated. So I though I would it just to give people a little hope if they are going through this.

Fourteen months since injury and my unit (do we still say unit round here) is 90% back to normal. I guess it’s true that nerve injuries just take a lot of time. I’m not gonna lie and say I stuck to the fasting protocol above because I didn’t much, so I couldn’t tell you if it worked or not. I think I still have a few months to go.

For all you getting the rubbery, numb thing. It isn’t hopeless but may take a while.

This is my experience on Fast.

3.5 years ago I started (IF) Intermittent fasting and a ketogenic diet.
Monday-Thursday - I would only eat keto between 4PM and 10PM. So and 18hr fast.
Fridays - I would eat whenever and whatever I wanted. My Treat day.
Saturday and Sunday back to keto with no time restriction.
Repeat.

I lost 70lbs in 2 years.
The 3rd year I started doing a 5-day extended fast at the beginning of each month.
I started at 260lbs lost a total of 100lbs in 3 years.

I do a checkup every year and my blood work says I’m perfectly healthy.
Aside from all the benefits from fasting I do Fasting with PE and wear an extender because I read it promotes Stem cell regeneration.

If anyone wants to learn more about fasting I can answer any question of my experience.
I also recommend reading the Book “The Completed Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting:, by Jason Fung and Jimmy Moore.

I also am a believer in IF and I fast very strictly one day a week. I typically pig out on Sundays, and then on Monday just fast and cleanse, eating minimally.

On regular days I have my last real meal no later than 2pm, and then i’ll just have a healthy snack or protein drink. It helps to drink a lot of water, I very seldom get really hungry.

Haha!

Very similar experience here.

About 2.5 years ago, I started keto, and several months into it, I began fasting.
It started with 16-8, but as of about a year and a half ago, I went to 20-4 Monday through Friday, with some cheating Friday night and during the weekend and no time restriction Saturday and Sunday.

I started at 270lb, went down to 186 at my lowest, but stabilized around 190lb.
Every week day, I do an hour walk on my lunch break with 3 sets of pull ups on a tree branch, and 3 sets of push ups.
I used to do squats as well, but ended up getting a hernia, and surgery for it, so I have been taking it easy on anything that makes my stomach strain and push since then.

I have always been husky, and I did a fair amount of weight lifting in high school, but I have never had as much muscle mass As I do now, especially my arms and back.
My blood pressure went from ~133/88 to 112/70

I used to have sleep apnea, and now my wife has to occasionally check to see if I’m still breathing because I sleep completely silently (unless I’ve been cheating with carbs, then I snore a bit, and my cheeks blow up)

It’s been life-changing.

Fasting is a good way to increase the metabolism of your body, growth hormone and testosterone…also try to get used to high intensity training with intervals…HIIT, 3-4 times per week start with 12-15 minutes while you get used to it, then take it away up to 30 minutes…do it pregressively through the weeks, that training method will help your body to produce more GH and Testosterone as well. I have a degree in Sports science and I’m about to start my training program with HIIT method…getting back to fasting, do not eat less food, just eat that food you usually eat along the day in less time. I would say the more common fasting window is 16 hours with 8 hours of meals. But you can increase the fasting window up to 20 hours, some ppl even practice the 23-1. Check that channel Dr La Rosa, he knows a lot about the topic.

I had a PE injury last saturday (weak erections and no libido, i guess i applied too much preasure to it ) so i will stop watching porn and having sex for a good couple of weeks.
