Mushroom,
>I haven’t been hanging for months, not because I don’t think it’s effective, but because of time and comfort issues. Hanging not only requires a lot of hang time, but also a lot of prep time. I just didn’t want to waste so much time out my day trying to get the wrap right between every set.<
SWM is correct. When you get the wrap right, you can just leave it on. But be sure to get the excess blood out of the head before the next set.
>So many people have been getting such great results lately that I decided to try it again—only this time I decided to try bib hanging with no wrap. Boy, am I glad I did. What the hell is that damn wrap supposed to accomplish anyway?! It works a lot better for me with no wrap, and saves a ton of time!<
There are several threads concerning no wrap hanging. For many guys though, they have to wrap. For me, my head and upper shaft were not big enough to go no wrap. I needed the extra support of the wrap. Two, the skin pinching is an issue.
>- Holds more securely and doesn’t slip at high weights because grooves can grip penis better without being blocked by the wrap. <
This is true, but a couple of layers of wrap should not impede blood flow too much, as long as the wrap is not too tight.
>- More comfortable because there is no wrap edge to pull down and cut into glands.<
This is a function of the type of wrap, the tightness of the first couple of layers of wrap, and the distance between the hanger and leading edge of teh wrap. As long as the wrap is very elastic, and not to tight between the head and hanger, and not too far away from the leading edge of the wrap, it should not be an issue.
>- Better circulation because the channels built into the bib to preserve circulation are not blocked by Theraband or other wrap. <
True, but if you use the wrap spareingly, it is not an issue.
>- Saves LOTS of time messing with getting wrap just right between each set. <
Just stay wrapped.
>I am hanging 22 pound for two 30 minute sets now, BTW, and circulation is fine. My glands used to get much darker at the end of a twenty minute wrapped set then it does now at the end of a 30 minute bareback set. It hardly gets discolored at all now, and returns to normal after just a bit of shaking. <
That is great, but still try to limit those sets. I hung many sets over 20 minutes, while wrapped. But it was because of loosing track of the time. I would get busy and forget the weights. There is just no sense in taking chances.
>BTW, does anyone know where the “magic number” of 20 minutes came from? It’s intuitive that less time = safer, but it’s a continuum. <
The max time recommeded for using a tournequet is 17 minutes. While blood flow is not completely cut off while hanging, it is reduced. So I always recommend a max of 20 minute sets to be on the safe side since most guys only have the one penis. There are no do-overs.
As said before, many guys prefer no wrap, but some guys HAVE to have wrap. It is all part of the experiment process each guy needs to go through to find what works best for him.
