Hanging for 20-30 mins or none at all

Is it better to hang for like 20-30 mins or not to hang at all? Sometimes I don’t always have the privacy I would like and can only hang for a short time. Should I do it or should I just totally lay off it for that day?


Some is better than none.

Many nights I do only 1 set of 20-30 mins, then switch over to manual stuff.

I think PE is cumulative, so just logging time hanging when you can surely will help in the long run.

I agree that PE is cumulative, but only to a point. If hanging 20 or 30 minutes causes an inflammatory response and you don’t hang again for several days, you’re likely to gain strength but no length. If your time is limited, try to at least be consistent. A little bit every day should be OK, maybe even every other day. But I wouldn’t stay away for more than 48 hours without at least some really good tugs.

Part of the healing process is contraction of the damaged tissues. This tends to come after the inflammatory phase, but, for us hangers who are continually reinjuring ourselves, it happens more or less all the time. Consistent stretching and/or hanging should prevent tissue contraction from proceeding too far, even if done for only 20-30 minutes at a time.

Alright, let me tell you what’s up.

I get home from my job around 3. My parents get home usually around 4. So on average I have an hour to hang. However, I usually only get 35-50 mins, with taking breaks, unwrapping, rewrapping, ect. This is on Monday-Thursday. I will usually hang 3/4 or 4/4 of these days. On weekends I hang at night, so on Friday-Saturday, I get in a good hour or more.

So I am pretty consistant with about 35-50 mins on weekdays with usually 2 sets and at night I can get a 65+ mins in 3+ sets.

Maybe this can help you, help me a little bit more.

Given your schedule and your ability to be consistent, I think something is better than nothing. Give it a try and see whether it works for you.
