I am using the Newbie Routine, and have a few questions.

-How long do I hold the kegels for?
-I have found that I can do the kegels easier and with greater force if I hold my breath while performing the exercise. Is this bad? Will it have any effect on my sexual life if I am training myself to hold my breath like this in order to do them? For some reason, I feel like I shouldn’t be. Besides, it gets pretty tiring.
-Do I have to do the kegels right then, or can they be performed throughout the day? I think the holding of my breath has made me not really like kegels.

-For my cooldown. If I warmup using 5 minutes of the massage function of the shower head, and then perform my routine under an IR lamp, is there any need for a 5 minute cooldown in the shower again? If the cooldown is something that is ideal, then I will do it. I hope skipping it occasionally isn’t that bad, is it?

You should be able to do them without holding your breath later as you get better. Kegels can be done throughout the day. Warmup and warming down can be done IF you want. I do not do warming down exercises but I have gained good gains :)

Holds kegels for 5 seconds. And don’t hold your breath: breath normally.
You may want to contract your ass and crotch area- even the lower abdomen area while doing the kegels for better reps. And lean forward a little while sitting. You can do more forceful kegels this way.
For greatest effects on your sexual life, support kegels with “edging”. Search for it in the forum.
The perfect times for kegels are times when you have nothing to do other than sitting on your ass and looking around: when you’re in a bus or subway, for example.

I think cooldowns are totally unnecessary. I don’t even do the warmups. But it’s for you to decide.

If you contract your ass and abdomen, there is a good chance you are not contracting your BC muscle. The perfect kegel focuses on the BC muscle only and does not involve other muscle groups. If your can isolate your BC contraction, that is the best kegel.

A simple warmdown is to fill a cup with warm water and put your dick in it for a couple of minutes.

Absolutely agreed.

I sometimes do short duration kegels, contracting the BC very fast and holding for only a second or two and sometimes I do long kegels, contracting slowly and holding until fatigue begins to set in and I have to slowly release it. I also do everything in between.

I usually use an IR heat lamp throughout a session, so I don’t bother to warm down. The tissues cool at a natural rate when you stop applying heat, just as they would if you cooled down in the shower.

Kegels can be done anytime anyplace, but really try to isolate the muscle.

And concerning warmdown, some believe in it some don’t. I personally do it, I take a quick shower and that’s it.
