Problem with Static Stretcher

Not sure If this is the right place to post this. Got the Static Stretcher in the mail.

Everything seems well. But I get this burning sensation around the tension point of the shaft. Am I stretching too hard? Or wrapping too tightly?

Never used this myself and just heard about it actually. But from pictures it looks like you might have it wrapped too tight. Anyone use this and is it true what they claim on that site?

Got this from their website:

Mild Aching and Mild Soreness

It is common to experience mild aching during wear. This condition can also persist after removing the StaticStretcher. For some people, this is a normal part of the growth process. "Mild" may also be described as "dull". However, at no point should there be any pain — not even mild or dull pain. The aching or soreness should be more akin to a very mild muscle workout.

If you experience any pain or ache or soreness which is greater than mild, review your wrapping and tension settings. Also review the DVD and follow the instructions exactly. Do not become over-anxious when experiencing mild ache or mild soreness. Allow the process to continue at the current tension settings — do not increase tension.

This usually indicates the wrap is being dragged over the skin. The cause of this is usually too high of tension. If you haven’t conditioned your skin yet, this will be common with too high of tension.

Allow the week or two for learning how to wrap and for letting your skin get accustomed to it. If you skip this step, the device will frustrate you.

Another possibility is wrinkled skin under the wrap. Trying reaching a finger under the wrap and move the skin around - if the sensation goes away it was a wrinkle - if it comes right back it’s either unconditioned skin or tension way too high.

Finally, it may instead be a wrap which is entirely too tight. However, this usually brings other signs with it such as fluid build-up and a cold glans.

Take it from my experience: don’t rush to get to the tension stage. I had to learn the hard way that you can’t skip learning how to wrap and you can’t skip letting your skin get used to it.

I sometimes get a burning sensation when the velcro is fastened too tight for too long. It is a good idea to fasten the velcro straps tightly when first applying it, and about 20 minutes later, loosen them significantly and sqeeze any blood out of the glans.

One other thing about “burning” sensations. You might try using the sandpaper to dull the edge of the distal abutments. I found that after many hours the edge of the distals nearest the base would produce discomfort. I sanded that edge a little rounder and that stopped happening. It’s the edge of the distals which is more square - against which the nuts push. And I mean the edge which contacts the wrap. It’s funny how the slightest thing can irritate after many hours.

.

Occasionally, I will get a pinch from the threads on the rods. I’m thinking of sanding the threads down a bit in the region where the nuts never go, ie below the lowest setting I put it at down to the base abutments. Any reason I should avoid doing that, Gerry? I have two spare sets of rods in case I fudge anything up.

I agree something needs to be done in this area. I know I thought about using more comfort pad material, but found it to be too much effort to don the device. Sanding the threads is an interesting idea. I don’t see how this could hurt you.

Doesn;t fall asleep anymore, now that I fixed things, but the head feels cold. that normal?

The glans being cold is subjective. Have you ever experienced it that cold without a PE device? If not, then the wrap sounds just a little too tight - or just that you’re not completely adjusted yet.

Then again, the tension might be a little too high - or just that you’re not completely adjusted yet.

Either way, try adjusting one thing at a time. Try loosening the wrap ever so slightly. If that doesn’t change anything, wrap it the way it was before and try lessening the tension slightly.

If either of those techniques doesn’t work, I’d suggest wrapping more frequently until this condition disappears. Also, no sleeping with it.

But all in all, it sounds like you’re getting the hang of it.
