I had my first go at the newbie routine tonight but I ran into a couple of issues I could do with some help on. The first is Lube! I have one that is great when me and my wife use it but when I was doing some Jelq it kept drying out! Is this normal or are there ones that are better that don’t for jelqing? Secondly, I found it really difficult to keep my erection.. What is the secret?? It just didn’t want to know! Anyone else have this trouble? Any advice appreciated.

Try Vaseline for lube if you can put up with the mess. Otherwise try a water based lube and “reactivate” it with a drop of water in your palm when it dries out. I use a rich body lotion at the moment and it’s doing the job quite well.

The erection level could be quite tricky and took me a while to figure out. Lot’s of practice will do the job but here are a few tips:

- horny is good. Don’t jack off too often.
- watching porn can work but it’s not recommended in the long run.
- maybe your grip isn’t tight enough so that no blood is actually trapped? Try tightening it a bit but not too much!
- I found dry jelqs to be more effective when it comes to forcing blood up the shaft (uncut) so I usually mix a few in every now and then when the erection starts to go down.

Eventually, you’ll be able to maintain a consistent erection throughout your workout. It took me a few weeks to do so. Forgoing porn and masturbation helps.

As for the lube, it’s all a matter of personal preference. I’ve tried many of them. KY jelly for instance is great for sex, but for PE, it has to be replenished often. I like Crisco. It’s cheap. It’s discreet. Plus, based on my understanding of the jelq, it’s the best feel. I don’t like coconut oil because it feels closer to a dry jelq (which isn’t a bad thing, but I have a bad turkey neck, so I don’t want to risk it. It could be different for you. Also, coconut oil may be good for the skin. ) I don’t like olive oil because it’s expensive (at least the one I buy because I like to cook). Again though, it’s all personal preference. What works for you may not work for others and vice versa.
