Hanging time...

Hey guys,
after jelquing and stretching for 6 months I decided to start hanging as well.

Now Ive started yesterday, with not much - 1,25 kilograms, and had 2 sessions, one lasting 10 minutes the other 15.
Today I have had 2 sessions also, one 15 minutes the other one 18 minutes.

Now Im wondering, how long do you guys hang for straight? 1 hour?
Is it better to hang longer with less weights, or hang shorter with more weights?
I know it all depends from the person that hangs, but I just want to hear other opinions.

I think Im going to hand 40 minutes straight in a 2 days, I wonder how that will go.

If you are going to hang, do not hang for longer than 20 minutes in one set. If you are going to hang 40 minutes split it into 2 sets. Time is more important than weight imo, when I was hanging I never exceeded 12 pounds but everyone is different and has their own routines.

You should check the Hanger’s Forum.

Sets should be 15 to 20 minutes each. Weight will vary person to person and perhaps day to day.

You need to use enough weight to stretch the ligaments. You will develop a feel for when you are stressing the ligaments or tunica. You should start light and work up. You will probably need to stretch skin some before you will be able to stress ligaments and/or tunica. You don’t need to use more weight than that needed to produce a feeling of stress and fatigue in the tissues.

Most experienced hangers recommend 10 hours a week, or more. Some guys have hung for hours a day. Ten hours a week requires 4 to 5 twenty minute sets every day of the week, or 6 to 7 fifteen minute sets per day.

The most sets I have done in one day was 9 20 minute sets. I do not recommend that though if you are just starting out though. On average if you are going to hang around 5 days a week, you should build yourself up to around 6 20 minute sets (2 hours hanging time a day).

Depends on the person, I’ve found I can do 30mins no problem with no blue head or puffiness.

I’ve re-started at 2.5kg 30mins x2 4 days a week, other exercises thrown in other days and hoping to get an ads to help cement gains and increase stretch on ‘rest’ days. I feel rest days are important, although everyone is different!
