I’m surprised this hasn’t been noticed in the way sex ed in schools is being taught. This issue is almost, if not as, important as the “wear a condom” and “this is what a penis with herpes looks like” lectures. Too much porn can kind of ruin your life, but at least it is reversible unlike STD’s.

I realized that the last few times I masturbated, it was really about “checking” to see if things were working.

I also read more about Re-booting. Especially FLATLINING, and how that lasts different amounts of time for different people. That stuff was re-assuring enough that I don’t feel the need to check.

I don’t think the legitimate points raised on yourbrainonporn has its way up to the mainstream consciousness. Sure there are articles here or there like some of the links provided on the site.

However, the majority of references in the mainstream to “Porn Addiction” seem to be associated with fundamentalist Christian groups, and with them it is all tied up to “sin” and fits into their general need to paint anything sexual outside of marriage as sinful. Including impure thoughts and masturbation. (I was raised as a fundamentalist Christian and for a lot of people, this ideas of sex as sin even spills over into their ideas about marital sex.)

I honestly believe that not every porn viewer is going to become addicted to porn. Just like not every person is going to become an alcoholic because they have a drink now and again.

But porn is obviously very addictive if you fall into the trap of that. In the old days, I used porn now and again. Not that often. Yet here I am today.

For what it is worth, I didn’t get caught up in this until I started PE’ing. (To be clear I don’t blame it on PE’ing - i’m the one who is responsible). I did watch porn before, but not as excessively as it has been. I didn’t use porn every time I masturbated. I might start off watching porn to get hard and then turn it off. I’ve written about it elsewhere on thunders but my general feeling about porn and say edging is: Don’t use porn when you edge. It distracts you from your own sensations. You get so focused on the pornstars pleasure that you don’t feel your own. Best example I can think of is timing your orgasm to the guy’s cumshot. You aren’t really cumming based on your own pleasure and sensations.

However I started using porn every time I would PE. This accelerated when I added pumping to my routine, because I wanted to stay as hard as I could while in the cylinder, and you really can’t do much to stimulate your penis while you are pumping. (Now I know you don’t really need to have a 100% erection the whole time)

The more days a week I PE’d meant the more days I watched porn. As my workouts got longer, the longer my porn viewing. The porn viewing started happening more and more on off days. And then it snowballed.

Of course there were other factors going on, but basically PE became an excuse to watch porn, and the more I PE’d the more porn I watched. And the more porn I watched, the more I needed porn to get stimulated.

I learned on the last failed detox that pornless PE is indeed possible.

Is my story similar to anybody else’s?

It’s day 5 for me and I wouldn’t say I had a severe porn addiction but I looked at it way more than I should have been, off and on for at least 4 years, maybe it was a little severe? I ended up being angry and irritable sometimes and I never knew why, with no reason to be at all, though most likely because of porn as this happened to people on the site too. My EQ varied, I could have a rock hard erection in my shaft but barely any head expansion, I think I’ll see a difference in that if I continue not watching porn haha.

Nearly identical to mine. There was a period where I was addicted, watching it multiple times a day and masterbating to it multiple times a day. That stopped. THen there were periods where I periodically used it to masturbate, but then learned to masturbate without it. Once I started doing longer sessions of PE that required decent erection levels is when I began to use porn heavily again. Like you said, whenever I PEed I used porn. The more I PEed the more I watched porn. And here I am today. Much healthier, but still damaged.

Very similar story here as well. Although I viewed porn before joining here. Interesting though how use of just basic webpage viewing turned dramatically it something destructive.

I will say guys that I had so many positive changes the time I did this before. Even though I only lasted 2 months, it seemed like much of the damage was undone, especially in terms of EQ and arousal. So I do know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We just have to keep moving towards it.

For what it is worth, I’ve put PE on hold. I haven’t been that consistent anyway, plus I am sort of at a crossroads anyway on it. I am big enough for everything but my ego.

It is so great to talk to you all about this.

I’ve posted on the porn detox 2 thread before, and last time I went 15 days. I am currently on the Day 7 mark, and edging and PE is being very effective i am getting an extra pump and easier to maintain blood flow during exercises. But like many times before , I am wondering how I am going to trick myself in to watching porn.

My tip , which seems to be working when I feel like watching porn use that energy towards having a high quality PE session , then read forums about people trying to give up until you get bored of the idea of watching porn.

Think my girth and EQ has improved allot since the start of this, and I feel like a have a wave of testosterone or some chemical flowing around me which is making me feel horny all the time .

Waste all the time and effort of watching porn , on reading about not watching porn.

Edging is masturbating, so I’m a bit confused, did you mean you do masturbate but you don’t cum and that’s the key to this?

Yes I am Edging , as part of my normal PE routine, but not getting as close to the PONR as before, in the past when I have tried to do this (No porn no Coming) , If I edge too close to the PONR then I get painful blue balls and have to come to let it out. So I am edging but keeping it sensible.

On a side note, I have been able to kegel allot harder while edging, getting extra expansion in the head.
and also I had morning wood for over an hour this morning which felt good it was just standing there doing its thing for an hour.

this all sounds good but wait till I get to day 20 and I am watching all types of crazy porn haha coming all over the place. I remember the last time I did this challenge I was all very euphoric and insightful up until about day 15 then it was over big time, think I watched about 3 hours of porn that day and jerked it about 5 times till I was empty. My goal is to go 4 weeks or break the pact when I get laid for real.

This could be a coincidence, but when I didn’t masturbate for a week a little while ago, I noticed more girls looking at me and on the 7th day while I was in the airport, one kept looking in my direction (my sister even said that girl likes you) and eventually came to me and asked me out of all the people that are closer to her to look after her bags while she went to the toilet.

And after while waiting in the que/line to get on the plane there was a hot blonde woman in front of me, she had her iPad right in front of my face while looking at her beach photos on full screen which had her totally topless…….

I was trying to draw up a theory on that inside my head as well. I think that if you don’t masturbate you are keeping your semen, essentially your “life force”, inside of you and letting it build up. Your body may see that you are not engaging in sex or masturbating, I don’t think your body can tell a difference between the two, and increase your natural pheromones in your body which is why people are having these encounters with women that are staring at them and most likely wanting more, which is awesome.

Don’t believe my theory it could be wrong haha, but I remember one of the rebooting accounts from YBOP and it went like this,
