HIV transmission female-to-male from vaginal intercourse is pretty rare if you don’t have other STDs (e.g., open herpes sores).

But there’s a chance (though still unlikely from a single session) that you picked up HPV or herpes, both of which are also incurable at this point. Most people with these diseases don’t even know it (minor or no symptoms for many individuals); I’m not sure if you can be tested for them unless there are sores or warts to examine.

The bacterial infections (e.g., clap) can be cured, but I hope you didn’t pick any up… Get tested and don’t do it again!

Just chill. Go to the doctor and tell him/her you had unprotected sex. You will get a test and know in a couple of days, likely you are fine. Most STDs turn up quickly while AIDS takes much longer.

All this hype and concern about STDs and sex is what makes us so dysfunctional.

Well, recent HPV numbers are putting infected college age women at about 30% - 50%. Condoms don’t protect very well against it anyway. You can’t test for it and you may not get symptoms. Don’t worry though, in a few years it will be like acne, everyone has it, you just have to deal with it.

These kinds of figures include the many dozens of strains of HPV that are not associated with cervical cancer (or sometimes even genital warts) — the relatively benign strains. Fortunately a vaccine is in the works that will prevent infection by a few of the worst HPVs.

No, that is for genital warts. Almost everyone already has some form of HPV not associated with genital warts. But you are right that that number isn’t only the cancer causing form. The link is down but I doubt that vaccine works against HPV. There is a new one that prevents the cancer, but HPV is in the same boat as HIV, so I don’t think it’s actually preventing HPV.

Let’s see….40 partners x 3 is 120 people. And all 120 are disease free? I wonder how many of the 40 were also unprotected. Get tested and wrap it up until you settle down or get married. I do wish you the best that you are not carrying anything.

I’ve seen wildly different estimates, so I don’t doubt that the figure you cite is from a reputable source. Looking around I actually see some even higher estimates out there. As with herpes, it’s very hard to know the actual rates of infection, but you’re right, an estimate that included all HPVs would be much higher, so I was wrong on that.

“Stuff all” means that I did basically nothing or put in no extra effort.

She is quality and I met her once and was cocky and arrogant toward her because I never thought I had a shot at her so I thought “what the hell” i’ll just be up myself and I even put her down once too.

I don’t know how old you are (only 2 partners says “young” to me), but when I was first fucking (back in highschool) I and most of my friends never wore condoms. I think it is pretty normal.

I mean, you know it is a bad idea to go unprotected, but damn — it just feels so much better without the dome! — and you haven’t been burned. Yet!

When you do get burned, pray it is not Herpes. That will put a permanent dent in your sex life. Next on the list — in my opinion — is Warts (HPV), something that can be way more serious than people think, and is way more common than people think.

But, if you start using condoms now, hey, you can avoid getting burned altogether!.

In my lifetime I have had one known STD, chlymidia (sp.?), which wasn’t pleasant, but not the worst thing you can get. I had it treated with antibiotics and that was that. Still, it was enough for me to start wearing condoms with new partners, and I am glad that my wakeup call was with Chlymidia and not herpes!

PS: I will say one of my buddies got Chymidia back in highschool, and foolishly left it untreated, and it left to serious complications. (It led to Juvenile Arthritis in his case…)

I caught crabs from a chick. Rubbers won’t stop them buggers. I was itching up a damn storm. The joke comes to mind about setting on fire the pubic hair of one side and when they run to the other side stab them with an icepick. I opted for Blue Ointment (I think that was the name) instead.

The 3 month follow up would only be necessary for aids wouldn’t it? I would think the other diseases would have been picked up the first time.
