Hives/Dry Skin Near the Genitals

I’ve been having this problem with getting hives, bumps, and itchiness near my genitals. Most of this happens where the leg creases with the hips. But I also have super dry skin on parts of my scrotum and right around my shaft (like at the top). My scrotum used to have it really bad but I realized it was my body wash combined with the multiple really hot showers I was taking that was causing the irritation. I’ve stopped using body wash but I still take a hot shower every day and I have a feeling that might be part of the problem if not most of the problem, but still, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

Get some Monostat and do some research on fungal infections.

Hey, I had a similar problem, but my skin was dry and itching. Go see your doctor, He or she will most likely prescribe you an anti-inflammatory (steroid) topical ointment as well as a over the counter anti-fungal cream. This will stop the dryness and give your skin a break so that it can heal properly. I was skeptical of the medicine at first, but give it 2 weeks as directed and sure enough you’ll see results.

You can always try anti-fungal only, if that’s what you think it is. The strongest anti-fungal ointment is over the counter so if you don’t have a doctor, this plus some extra strength cortisone cream should help you out. Beware of prolonged usage of hydrocortisone, though. I have heard that it may thin your skin over long periods of use, so if you don’t see a anything getting better, its off to the doctor for you.

In my opinion, go see your doctor and get that steroid/anti-inflammatory if you’ve tried all of the above. The damn thing saved my life, I was itching like crazy between my legs and it was taking over my life more and more. I had it for about 2 years trying various things. Then I went to the doctor and in 1 week I saw improvement, and in 2 weeks I was cured. Woo hoo for modern medicine!!!

Cool, so it sounds like it’s probably a fungal infection?

It was funny cuz my lil bro mentioned once that he had to buy vaginal cream and how it was so awkward for him because of yeast infection he got on his back. I thought it sounded kinda similar to what I was getting near my genitals, ie very dry itchy skin.

If he still has it, I’m going to steal his cuz his back problem is gone and he had a lot of vaginal cream left. If that doesn’t do it I guess I’ll see a doctor.
