Get your skin checked for Melanoma

Get your skin checked for Melanoma

Not really related to sexual health, except you cant have sexual health if you are not healthy.

I went into the Doctor, to have her check this tiny scab I could feel on the upper part of my back. It’s been there over 6 months. She suggested I go to the Dermatologist.

The Derm ended up “freezing” the scab off, but saw an “odd” mark below it, and cut off a piece to get it checked.

It ended up being a melanoma in situ, which was non cancerous, but would/could develope into cancer eventually.

Although it was as small as a freckle, they cut 5 mm all the way around it, so the incision was 2.5 inches long and took several stitches to close it. He gave me a lollipop becuase I was a good boy and didn’t flinch :D

All you guys and girls out there, especially those with Lilly white Irish skin like me, get your bodies checked once in a while. As Barney Fife used to say “We gotta nip it in the bud, Anj, nip it in the bud”.

 I am so glad you got that sorted Sixer! That’s all that yard work in the blazing sun! :smack:

Donate to Thunder's Place and help save the daffodils :spin2: , but remember to add an extra 30 cents every time :leftie:

I am fairly olive skinned, but tanned so often when I was younger my doctor is always checking for weird looking spots.

I am glad all went well Sixer

You all are still missing the point... The story was great and all but should have ass (and) some anal in it.- RWG

Good job, stay healthy, it’s all you have.

If it was me I would go out and spend a few hundred on a great dinner for a job well done.

Cheers.

Everybody “Wang Chung” tonight!, on me! :homer2:

Thanks for the well wishes.

My father in law had the same thing Sixer. His was cancerous, but they caught it soon enough for minor treatment to take care of it. My wife and her three sisters have been to the dermotologist since and all four have had multiple moles removed that had potential to be dangerous. Melanoma isn’t anything to play around with. My father in law always wears a shirt with 3/4 or long sleeves and a brimmed hat. Even when it’s 100 degrees outside he has very little skin showing. He always has sunscreen on as well.

Glad things weren’t too seriouis and worked out for you, bro.

Good advice, Sixer. A buddy of mine lost a good hunk out of his shin to melanoma.

I might be mistaken, but I believe the pregnant woman that is being kept alive by machinery, until the baby is born, problems started with a melanoma, that they found too late, and it worked it’s way to her brain.

While I jest about it a little bit, it is a serious thing. My wife used to chuckle at me when I sat under the Beach umbrella and always looked for a shady place, but not anymore.

The Derm also told me to apply a face lotion daily that had spf15, which I have been doing for a couple years anyway, to keep my boyish looks <he says while hiding his “crows feet”> :)

Thanks guys, for the inspirational and kind words.

Glad it wasn’t malignant, Sixer. Those MF can go cancerous any time. From now on don’t expose your skin to the sun too much, always use sunscreen and a cap, when outdoors. Even at the beach, wear a cap and a T-shirt, plus sunscreen under it. Keep in mind that a white shirt will give you about 5 SPF protection, a black one about 10 SPF. So, even wearing a shirt under heavy sun conditions, would require sunscreen lotion on your skin.

Grazie Paisano. I’m thinking of grabbing the Urban Sombrero from the J Peterman catalog :)
