Research showing Viagra can harm fertility

Though it’s only one set of research and might be misleading, this is interesting:

That’s an interesting article. One question I had was not really addressed by the article. They bathed sperm samples in a weak solution of Viagra. My question is, is the Viagra that winds up in the bloodstream after passing through the digestive tract the same as Viagra dissolved and added directly to the sperm?

I’d have more confidence in that study if they studied the sperm of men who had taken Viagra and found those same defects. It would be even better if they took sperm samples from someone who had never taken Viagra and studied them, then gave that man Viagra and studied sperm again. That doesn’t sound all that difficult. I’m sure that they wouldn’t have any problem having volunteers for a study involving free Viagra. The only challenge would be verifying that the men participating had not, in fact, had a prior Viagra history.

Hey, and one more thought. They may be on the wrong track here. Imagine the possibility of a super-Viagra that not only improved your erections, but was a contraceptive as well! They just need to IMPROVE the rate at which sperm are rendered incapable of fertilization.

For Lampwick, becoming hung like a donkey was the result of a total commitment.

Here’s a story that is related conceptually:

Daily Vardenafil For 6 Months Has No Detrimental Effects On Semen Characteristics Or Reproductive Hormones In Men With Normal Baseline Levels

From the article:

"The authors concluded that that vardenafil had no adverse effects on sperm concentration, compared with sildenafil and placebo, when administered daily at the maximum recommended dose for 6 months. Further vardenafil did not impair sperm concentration, total sperm count, sperm morphology or motility."
