Well if it is any help they use that principle in the oil donkey engines you see nodding away.

The manual pump is used for removing oil throught the dipstick on engines that can’t be accessed from the oilpan as on cars, trucks, etc. Most on marine engines. The single lever as on the LA Pumps was designed for pulling a vacuum on brake lines to get the air out. The manual pump is also great for throwing at stray dog or coons on your porch late at night.—Steve

I think this thread should be named “How to explain to your partner, why you just bought a manual pump”. At least I’d been wondering that myself. Just in case she find it ;)

Just say something like-

Well I was in this store and the salesman came over to me and said ‘I’ve just got this wonderful device that can save you energy and avoid any back problems’ (If she hasn’t a back problem - convince her she’s got one)

‘Well’, he went on, ‘When you’ve got a back problem and there is a piece of paper on the floor, you just place the end of this tube on the piece of paper and operate this lever and it will pick up the piece of paper then you just take it to the dustbin and release this bit here and the paper will fall into the dustbin, all without hurting your back.

Now she might not quite believe this so all you say then is:-

‘I’m going to stick it on my dick and make it larger,

By this time she will just give you a disbelieving look and get on the with the ironing. (Or she might throw the iron at you).

A little sawing and some epoxy and a cylinder could make a very interesting home for guppies. Or a goldfish that just happens to enjoy a vertical life.
