Water pumping

No. Well, at least the guage isn’t.

Pressure is pressure, whether from air or water.

There is a common misunderstanding that the same pressure, mediated by water, provides more force than air. As someone with engineering training, I must speak up and say this is nonsense. Pressure is simply force per unit area. Period. A Newton of force is a Newton of force, whether or not it’s air or water providing it.

The only difference between using water and air is that a bathtub of hot water makes it easier to keep the penis heated. It is of course possible that the increased heat has beneficial effects, like making the tunica more flexible and therefore expand more.

Tick, The LAP pump is what I use for water pumping. It is capable, but you must be careful. You must not get water in to the gauge or even the tube. What I do is fill the cylinder just enough with water, so that when I get to full size the water level almost fills the cylinder. I like to keep about a half inch of air at the top. Be careful when you pump that your not pulling any water up into the tube.

Yes, I have thought about that. Has that happened to you?
After I pump, I pull the tube off the pump and give it a few pumps to get fresh air in there. Once I even sucked water into the pump. I had to shake the water out. That’s not good.

I would only use the cylinder and the plastic tube without risking to break the pump

I do not believe that water produce more pressure.
I feel that water is more dense than air and I heard that water cannot be compressed, whereas air can. My perception, when I train is that my penis is sort of wrapped by water, which I do not feel when I air pump. When I use water the volume of my penis grows much more evenly. When I use air I tend to get more fluid buildups. Once I chatted with a person who said he used warm olive oil inside his cylinder, even more dense than water…

I think larslaukanen is a bit to fast in his conclusions that there is no difference in water and air pumping. I did not understand the difference myself at first, but it seems clear that the density factor of water and air makes a huge difference.

When you pump out a fixed volume of air from your cylinder, that doesn’t mean that your penis has to expand the same amount of volume. Instead the air inside the tube decompress and the pressure is reduced. But when you are using water your penis has to expand the exact amount of water, simply because water is incompressible.

It’s like pneumatics and hydraulics. Compressibility of the medium is the key.

The difference in gauge pressure is due to the fact that when you are pumping air, you measure the difference in air pressure inside and outside of the cylinder, while in water you measure the difference in pressure inside and outside of your penis. Thus water measurements gives you the best descriptions of how the strain in your penis actually is.

Why using heat with air is difficult:

When you lower the pressure in air, the temperature actually goes down(PV=nRT ideal gas law), this also makes the air less conductive to heat because of the drop in density. So unless you are packing your cylinder, heating from the outside becomes more difficult(diffusion). You could counter that by using a radiation heat source(IR-lamp), but as it turns out most glass and plastics effectively absorbs or reflects this kind of radiation. Making your tube almost a perfect insulator!

That is my way of looking at it, but I could be wrong…

OK, just to be 100% sure; My gauge will stop working if I pump water through my mityvac pump (see picture)?

Very likely it will. Do not run the risk of wasting what seems to be a fine equipment: use it for air pumping only. Sign a mark on the cylinder to know your maximum length then disconnect all the metallic parts from the tube and use your mouth as a vacuum pump when you want to water pump. It is very easy. It also reminds you that you are going for long sessions and not for strong suction.

OK, thanks!

I agree with the above.

Sorry to harp on this, but the above is incorrect. The expansion of the tunica depends on the pressure difference between the inside of the penis and the surrounding medium, and it does not matter if that medium is air or water. If your gauge says, say, 5”Hg, then the pressure differences is the same for air and water. Compressibility does not matter. Trust me on this.

However, the expansion may also depend on the temperature (as it makes the tunica more flexible), and, as we agree, water pumping makes for easier heating.

Harp all you want. This is how we become more scientific and advanced PEr’s.

Would we all agree that keeping a strong erection in the tube is more beneficial than not having one at all?
